Sfudenfs will be permiffed fo fake more fhan full work only by permission of fhe faculfy. In order fo confinue in a fiffh sfudy, an aver- age of B or more should be mainfained. ID nof accepfable.l Sfudenfs who come fo us in fhe ninfh grade who have nof complefed all fheir eighfh grade work will nof be permiffed fo regisfer for full ninfh grade work, buf musf make up fhe ele- menfary school subiecfs in which fhey are deficienf, by faculfy direcfion. Sfudenfs coming from accredifed schools, will receive full credif for work faken, and should fhe course of sfudy differ from fhaf of fhis school, proper subsfifufions will be allowed. Grade cards will be given fo parenfs and sfudenfs each six weeks. Semesfer grades are kepf in permanenf form af fhe school. Absences and Iardiness, whefher excused or unexcused, reduce fhe pupiI's scholasfic sfanding. If a sfudenf for any reason misses I5 per cenf of fhe class recifafions in any class he for- feifs his grade in fhaf class unless by special acfion of fhe faculfy. As recommended by fhe Educafional Board of fhe Pacific Union Conference, Loma Linda Union Academy follows fhe policy of requir- ing four years for graduafion, which means fhaf each pupil is expecfed fo spend fhe full four years in high school. Affendance af summer schools or carrying more fhan a nor- mal program during fhe regular school year will nof usually enable a pupil fo be gradu- afed earlier. All such exfra affendance or exfra program should be regarded as an enrichmenf of fhe pupil's educafional oppor- funifies rafher fhan as a means of leaving school earlier. A sysfem of honor poinfs is used fo defer- mine a sfudenf's general average or sfanding. Honor poinfs for each half unif of credif are given as follows: A equals 3, B equals 2, C equals I, D equals O, F equals -I. The Senior Class will organize soon affer fhe opening of fhe second semesfer. The Junior Class will organize a few weeks fhere- affer. The Sophomore and Freshman classes may be organized shorfly before fhe close of fhe school ferm. To ioin fhe sophomore class, a sfudenf musf have his eighfh grade diploma: he musf have eighf unifs including subiecfs for which he is regisfered during his sophomore year. To ioin fhe iunior class, a sfudenf musf have his eighfh grade diploma: he musf have fwelve unifs including fhe subiecfs for which he is regisfered during his junior year. To ioin fhe senior class, a sfudenf musf have his eighfh grade diploma: he musf have six- feen unifs including fhe subiecfs for which he is regisfered during his senior year lfhese six- feen unifs include fhe basic requiremenfsl. A sfudenf is eligible fo hold office in any sfudenf orqanizafion only: Ill if he has a cifi- zenship grade of B or above: l2l if he main- fains a scholarship average of B or received no grade below C. GRADUATION For graduafion all work musf be complefed. The minimum general average obfained in all sfudies pursued above fhe eighfh grade musf be C for college enfrance recommendafion. The minimum grade accepfed in any subiecf is D. If af any fime fhe work of a sfudenf is unsafisfacfory he forfeifs class privileges, and is reinsfafed only when fhe required average has been reached. All full unif courses musf be complefed fo counf as credifs for graduafion. All sfudenfs musf presenf eighfh grade cer- fificafes or fhe eguivalenf.
