They are backed bythe Board of Education: W.W. Gordon, President: Joe Blair, Earl Justice, W. E. Bivens, and J. French Workman. To- gether these men have planned and are executing an extensive building program in the county, For us, this means a new high school and field house, which we expect to occupy within the next year. '.L,n-in n V , nun , , ' rw Q- ll ,l ,V 1- ' i nl gill .rw A., pfzdacwcd Our principal, Mr. Charles W. Juergensmeyer, is pleased with the progress we are making and has this word of advice to offer us: lt is more important now than ever before For students to take advantage of their op- portunities because colleges and industry are accepting only those with the best records. Our students and teachers have made great progress in raising the scholastic standards this year, and I am expecting even greater improvements in the future. 13 i l --r Mrs. Anne Maynard, who is Dean of Girls, Attendance Officer, and Guidance Director, has to be on her toes to keep up with all of her duties. She is never too busy, however, to talk to a student in need of advice. 64064 Mr. Wandell Lucas, the Dean of Boys, also leads a busy life. Mr. Lucas is administrative as- sistant to the pr i n cipal . ln the absences of Mr. Juergensmeyer, he takes care of announcements and when we have assemblies he arranges the seating for the students and teachers. Healso, as Dean of Boys, settles minor discipline matters. He gives counsel and guidance to boys and he helps them to secure jobs. ln addition to these administrative iobs he teaches four classes of Bookkeeping. 'L -iii!!! 'Fir Y. I, Deloris Stidham, treasurer and Mrs. Gladys Browning, secretary, make up a very efficient office staff. 77Zafm6a9 We What would we do without them? Mrs. Gladys Browning is our capable and genial secretary, always on the go with her many jobs of keep- ing the office records straight and handling the school correspondence. She also puts up with our over 1300 students, who are constantly calling on her for supplies and information. Miss Deloris Stidham, our faithful and efficient treasurer, has charge of the schools funds and also keeps a finan- cial record ofall the 30 clubsin L.H.S. 0 Tom Lilly leads his fellow students in prayer. Zeaalcam Every morning the students of Logan High School are privileged to hear God's Word and are led in prayer to start the day off right. All the clubs take turns week by week in presenting the devotions which are heard over the public address system throughout the school. The devotions usually consist ofa scripture reading, an application of the lesson to daily life, and a prayer . At the beginning of the year, we selected our class officers, our class colors, red and white, and our class flowers, red and white gladioli. Early in November we presented Terror At Black Oaks as our highly s u c c ess ful Senior Play. We sponsored the Homecoming Dance and a Donkey Basketball Game. At Christ- mas we had a noon hour party in the gym. After what seemed an eternity the happy days of class rings, calling ca rd s and commencement announce- ments finally arrived. May 7 was the date of our annual Sneak Day, followed too soon by finals on May l6. The Ju- nior-Senior Prom was enjoyed by all. Then came the solemn moments: Bac- calaurate, May 20 and Com m e n c e- ment, May 24. As a final fling on May 25, we celebrated with the Senior Class Picnic at the Holden Swimming Pool. L. , endow Elma LEFT- Senior affairs were inthe hands of these officers: Glen Bowen, Presidentg Claudine Maynard, Secretaryg Miller Porterfield, Treasurer: and Bill Harkins, Vice-President. We elected officers and Miss Ruth Kline was selected as our head sponsor in the fall. We had a Hobo Dance in No- vember which was very successful. We presented our class play The Baby Sitter and held a Sophomore games party. A joint assembly with the J uniors was en- ioyed at the end of the year at which our President Fred Casto fooled , puzzled , and d el i ghted his audience with his Feats of music. amaze 66444 ., .- 'ill' 1 '-Us 2' 'hi F '. all, '. .L ' ,-, V 1 l ff -f ili -slxw-f ! It's about my ex- perience in the retailing Held. Believe me, Variety Store business is fast-moving and interesting. Each counter is a store in itself. Here at Murphy's one learns retailing from the bottom up! I started out as an extra salesgirl, working every day after school. When I was graduated, I was fortunate to be placed in charge of a counter. I never knew how really interesting this work could be . . . it's just like having a shop of my own. I'm growing here, taking more responsibility as I go. 'l'here's still more room for advancement . . . I can work myself into a position of merchandise buyer, section supervisor or bookkeeper in the office. Soon I hope to be selected to train for the job of Personnel Directress in a large new Murphy Store. A11 of us at Murphy's have an equal chance to better ourselves. From what I can see Murphy's is tops in training . . . and there isn't a store in town to beat Murphy's on Employee benehts! If you're ambitious to make a go of retailing, join the Gang at Murphys soon as you can. G. C. URPHY C0 PA Y af Bridal . Portraits . Commercial . Murals up . , Aerial Photography .
