FOURTH ROW: Roddy Hall, Paula Justice, Mr, Orr, Donald Triplett, Dickie Bowling, Joy May Browning, Cgzulenf gounci Organized in i946 and sponsored by Mr. Orr, the Student Council meets every two weeks to discuss school activi- ties and problems. lts purpose is to create and main- tain better understanding and co-operation between the teachers and pupils, and to promote proiects and activi- ties centering around the student body. The Council sponsors Twirp season and the annual Homecoming cele- bration, which consists of a parade, football game dance and the queen's coronation. Cleah-up week, a hall light system, sportsmanlike conduct between Logan and Man high schools, and good citizenship all came under con- sideration during the year. The Council concluded its business with a proposed agenda for next year and an assembly program about the student election in May. Council members clean up. Z 8 I I

Wafiona! ,Honor ociefy The Logan chapter of the National Honor Society, a national scholastic honorary, was installed at LHS in January. The purpose of the organization, which is sponsored by Mrs. Hogan, is to create interest in scholarship, stimulate desire to render service, prompt leadership, and encourage development of character. Members are selected each se- mester from the junior and senior classes on the basis of scholarship, character, leader- ship, and service. Among the activities of the Society were--operating a lost and found department, keeping the bulletin boards up to date, acting as ushers for College Day, and working out a point system for the various clubs. The social activity in May was an in- formal dinner and recreation hour in the gym .
