lWPll5LIc 5FDtl25-lj The work of the classes rn the Public Speaking Department is divldai mto three distinct studies These are the selection work stu of plays and the presentation of plays and the regular public speaking work The selection work includes the study of poems monologues and readings suitable have become more proficient srnce more time and study have been spent m this line of work The classes have studied both the tragedies and comedies These have been studied from the standpoint of technique and the story value of the plays Each of these classes has presented a play The regular public speaking work which is more accurately speaking the Oral English work includes impromptu speeches talks on assigned topics and the training of the speaking voice This is becoming much more important since the ability In this work indicates more than usual ability in the two other divisions Students are given a chance to gain experience by appearing before the student body at chapel time by assisting on club programs and by the community work which s0 many have done l23l . , Q e l I I to be given before an audience.
