A NORMAL I 5, -, 1 gnu Pnor to l9l6 no work provrdmg speclal trammg for students expectmg to teach was glven ln Logan County Hugh School To meet the demand for such a course the Normal Trammg Department was established The department offers courses rn Psychology Revrews and Methods and Practice Teachmg Students are encouraged to carry theoretical courses and practrce teaching concurrently Actual teachmg IS provided ln the Sterllng Public Schools The department rs on a purely vocatnonal basrs wlth every member enrolled plan mng to teach rn the rural schools Last year eleven Normal Trammg Diplomas were granted to graduates of the hugh school and most of those holdmg these dxplomas are now teaching with marked success m the rural schools ol Logan county Their com bmed earmngs are far ln excess of the combmed earnmgs of any other group of grad uates taken from the same class Altogether the department has furmshed about thxrtv teachers to the rural schools of Logan county and districts m adjommg territory Durmg the current year about thirty different students have enrolled m th professronal courses of the department with a combmed membershrp for the three classes of over frfty The arm of the Normal Tramxng Department IS to raise the standard of rural school teaching ln Logan county I-221 .l M r , 4 dll i 572 A5135 ' A l ,. of ' ' ' K xl.
