Many of you will close your high school days with a sense of accomplishment and happinessg others will feel a bit un- happy because they did not take advantage of the opportunities, academic and social, that Lodi High School placed before you. CLASS DREAMERS Joyce Martin, Jim Novoshelski CLASS FLIRTS Joe Zingone, Barbara Erwood 'll MASS' HISTURY XX Becoming Freshmen at L.H.S. proved to be an enlightening experience for the-Class of l96O. Rushing through the halls under the disapproving glances of upperclassmen, peeking behind doors to find the right classroom, eating lunch in twenty minutes--they were all new and bewildering to us. Soon, though, the routine became normal and we no longer had to depend on upperclassmen for directions. We had our first class elections and Paul Castiglia was elected President, Lorraine Fusco, Vice President, Martha Di Maggio, Secretary, and Marilyn Wojcik, Treasurer. Under their guidance, we became better acquainted at our Freshman Social. Exams, too, were new for us, and, while those fortunate souls who were exempt were out enjoying the summer air, the better part of the class was struggling to get a passing grade. Summer vacation came as a long-awaited blessing to us all. September was greeted with anticipation as we became Sophomores. Our friends from East Paterson had left us and now Lodi High was attended by Lodi and Saddle Brook students. Again it was time for elections and Angela Santangelo, President, Joe Perconti, Vice President, Nancy Sclafani, Secretary, and Sandy Skorobahoty, Treasurer, were our choices. Now as full-fledged members of school life, we finally got to see the assemblies we had missed as Freshmen. Will you ever forget those seats in the back of the study hall? Under the direction of Miss Feoranz and our capable Sophomore cabinet, the Sophomore Hop-- Blue Moon -was a wonderful experience and a success. In April we took co-operatives-oh geometry! With June came mixed feelings of happiness-for the arrival of summer vacation--and anticipation-for our Junior year, and recognition as upperclassmen. As Juniors we became exposed to two terrible pitfalls-intermediate algebra and physics. Can anyone forget those problems in Mr. Feldman's first period class? or his famous Do you understand? Equally unforgettable were the physics labs and trying to explain to Mr. Natale how you arrived at the right answer with the wrong formula! After a week of campaigning, we elected our class officers-Barbara Sokolowski, Presidentg Joe Perconti, Vice Presidentg Terry Della Mast, Secretaryg Nancy Sclafani, Treasurer. lt was during this year that we began to gain recognition throughout the school. Terry Della Mast became Head Majorette, Jim Adderley, Rich Katstra, ,,,,,. ...as --s....,, fsgl, ..-,ay-f-f .. 'S-K . , af- -as. We were truly a part of Lodi High. The Junior Prom- Spring Fantasy --was our first formal. Pete Di Maria and Roe Maid--Prom Co-chairmen--were selected to see that the evening was a success. The thrill we experienced when Prince Richie Verola and Princess Barbara Sokolowski crowned King Andy Andalora and Queen Joyce Kowalik can never be matched. June came and once again we left the halls of L.H.S. for summer vacation. Finally-our long-awaited Senior year. With it came the honor of sitting up front for assemblies, the doubtful glances from Mr. Scan in chemistry, arguing with Mrs. Purita about Will Shakespeare, and knowing that we had come a long way from the confused Freshmen we had been. Our Senior Year also brought out the leadership in our classmates. Phil Tancorra was elected President of the Student Council, Joe Nardino became leader of the National Honor Society, Richie Katstra and Marilyn Wojcik were elected Presidents of the Hi-Y and the Tri-Hi-Y. After much deliberation and a hectic week of signing petitions, the class officers were elected. Joe Perconti, President, Frank Calendrillo, Vice President, Bev Diorio, Secretary, and Barbara Sokolowski, Treasurer. Barbara Del Greco was chosen Homemaker of the Year. Do you remember the look she gave anyone who called her Betty Crocker? The night of February 26 found us at the Casa Mana for our Senior Ball- La Granada. The King, Gary Cusimanno, and the Queen, Lorraine Atkins-after being crowned by Prince Rich Katstra and Princess Joyce Jordan-led us across the floor for the Grand March. Here we became aware of the honor we held as Seniors and the feeling of pride we felt for each other was indescribable. The Miss Lodi High assembly was hilarious! Jack Rowland and Pete Di Maria were the cutest girls. Marilyn Wojcik was finally eletced Miss Lodi -with Terry Della Mast as her runner-up. The Washington trip finally became a reality when we left for the nation's capital on April 5--six busloads of happy, fun-loving teenagers. No sleep and much fun. On our return were Rye Beach, the banquet, Senior exams, rehearsals, Baccalaureate, and finally-Graduation! This day we have waited four long years for, and now that it is here, we shun the thought of leaving Lodi forever. There are tears and promises that our ,friendships will never be forgotten- and, indeed--many never will. The mark we've made at L.H.S. is one we can be proud of. The halls of our school will be different without us, but the fond memories we have collected will remain as echoes forever. 44. . The careful planning, the editing, and the art work successfully prog- ressed with the patient guidance of Mr. Tambu- rello. Despite the sharing of the work, the hectic rush to meet the deadlines, the staff members also shared the enjoyment as this yearbook began to progress. After several weeks of hopeful planning, Typical Teenager was finally decided upon as MR. TAMBURELLO the theme of the l96O edition of Magic Case- ments. With the help of confused editors, artists and various committees, the fragments, rough sketches and half-done stories emerged into the finished pages of the yearbook. We know that this, the l96O edition of MAGIC CASEMENTS will enable you, the student body, to be able to enjoy all the thrilling and exciting moments, as these pages reflect, relive and re- capture four memorable years at Lodi l-ligh. ff A COMMlTTEE HEADS Advisor Sitting: Cheryl Gross, Barbara Stamato, Roe Malo. And, as we look back over the past, four years, we realize what it was all for. Now the studying, homework, and constant drilling all fit into place as parts of a specialized machine geared for the creation of a better world. People have said that the best four years of our lives are those spent in high school. The friends we meet and become endeared to, the parties we attend and enjoy, the quizzes we take, and the hardships we face are all but a part of the scheme. Now we will go. our separate ways, some to college, some to enter the world of business, but none of us will ever forget these four wonderful years at Lodi High School. lt is only fitting to close with a quote from the Holy Scriptures lwhere it can be readl: Get ye knowledge, but with it, get understanding. l 9 AUTOGRAPHS x I , . 1 1 I 9 x 1- .f 'v - L 140 Gaegory 3-1 549 Joseph Maio 6' Sons Installers of Septic Tanks 0 Sanitary 5YSl'9m5 Excavating 0 Bulldozing 0 Trucking 288 WESTMINSTER PLACE LODI, NEW JERSEY PRescott 8-4541 D.
