THE HELLOS AND THE LAUGHTER. THE GOODBYES AND THE TEARS. ALL THE FOND MEMORIES, OF OUR SCHOOL CAREERS. LOOKING FORWARD TO EACH DAY, ONLY TO SEE IT END, KNOWING THAT THE WHOLE TIME WAS SPENT WITH SPECIAL FRIENDS. A PART OF OUR LIFE IS OVER, YET ONLY TO RESTART. AND ALWAYS LOVING OUR SPECIAL FRIENDS, DEEP WITHIN OUR HEARTS. ANITA MITCHELL Throughout the years there have been many people who went out of their way to help us, encourage us, and to enrich our lives. But there is one individual who did a little more. Not only was he our teacher and our coach, but he was our friend. Whenever we were down, he was always around to talk to and to encourage us to go on. He seemed to care about everyone of us, and he was always satisfied when we gave our best and lived up to our potential. We the Senior Class of 1987 dedicate this annual to you Mr. Keyser, for all you've done for us. We will miss you next year! We wish you the best in your new life, and remember if you ever need anything, we will always be there for you- just as you were there for us!! God Bless and KEEP IN TOUCH!!!! Thanks for EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! A special thanks to Mr. Draper, Tom Epling, and the Sidney Telegraph for providing pictures, and also a very special THANKS to everyone else who spent many hours helping us to put the annual together! It was deeply appreciated!!! The Panthers started off their season ready to work and fight. They had one of the toughest front lines around, which was a real key this year. The team had their hopes of being in the playoffs and possibly winning State! But the Panthers ended their season with a record of 6-3, and the title of Summit Conference Champs. Their dreams of the playoffs remained dreams for another year due to the unfinished paperwork by Lyman, who didn’t compete this season, which caused the team to not have enough qualifying games. There were five Seniors on the team: Leland Adamson, Cory Michelman, Earl Pace, Dean Soucie, and Rod Wilkins, who stepped forward and commanded great leadership which helped the team when they were behind. Dean and Leland were chosen as All-Conference, while Tony, Steve, Jeff, and Rod were picked as Honorable mention. Leyton lost Potter win Lyman For Dix win Chappell lost Big Springs win Wheatland win Harrisburg win St. Pats lost Steve- Ah, com’on guys, HANDS OFF! Let me run this ball- just this once. Need some help guy ? 13 HOmECOmiNG ’86 Homecoming '86 was a very joyful and enthusiastic week for everyone. All week the students and even some of the teachers were showing up at school with many new and creative ideas. Monday was Hat Day, Clown Day, Nerd Day, and Trash Day. Tuesday was Punk Rock Day, Hair Day, and Gum Day. Wednesday was Celebrity Day, 50's Day, Backwards Day, Beach Day, and Shade Day. Thursday was Kiddo Day, Switch Day, Sucker Day, Stuffed Animal Day, Big Red Day and Girls Mum. Friday was Blue-White Day, Jersey Day, and Boys Mum. Friday never seemed to get here. The classes were shortened 5 minutes for the Homecoming Pep Rally which was held outside. Each class did a skit and everyone looked forward to kickoff. The game was against Dix, and the Lodgepole Panthers were roarin' to go and ready to pounce. It was a great game! The front line did a great job and was a major contribution to the win. Even the younger players got a chance to be out on the field. The final score was 40-20 with Lodgepole being victorious. The Royalty was crowned at halftime. Homecoming Royalty Dean Soucie Kim Barnhart (1st Attendants), Cory Michelman Anita Mitchell (King Queen), Leland Adamson (2nd Attendant) Angel. The Lady Panthers started off their volleyball season very unsure of themselves. They lost three seniors last spring. They also lost some height, strength, and confidence. Changes took place as the season went onward, and they slowly but surely built their confidence. They placed 2nd in the Bridgeport tournament, 3rd in the Potter tournament and 3rd at MAC. Soon sub-districts rolled around. It was going to be tough and the girls knew that if they wanted to continue the tradition of that trip East, they’d have to play top-notch ball. They had to play Potter first. They had met twice, each winning one game. But the Panthers had their dream and pulled into the final round. They were up against Dix. They had met twice before, also, but with Dix always finishing on top. It seemed it would happen again, but Lodgepole still had their dream and this time, came out on top. They had one game to go before they could head east - and it would be a tough one. This time, the dream fell through and the Lady Panthers ended their season with a record of 13-8 after a disappointing loss to Lewellen. Melissa Farmer, Anita Mitchell, and Angel Sharman were picked as All-Conference. Anita and Angel were Co-Captains. Losing only one senior, the Panthers will have basically the same team in which to try to recapture their dream and again uphold the tradition. We hope it will be a magical night for you, because reality will come back much too soon; the reality of your future and of ours as well. With a sprinkle of magic, we can bring back some memories which we have shared in the past, like the parties and the dances which we Have had here at school as well as the ones at our homes. We’ve had to fight washed out roads, move yard parties indoors, and even move to new locations because of the weather. Regardless, we’ve managed to have fun. I guess that was part of the magic we shared, anything was possible when we were together. The nights we spent chasing Big Foot were filled with a different kind of magic. You guys managed to scare us girls on many occasions! The reality of your graduation is rapidly approaching, and even though this is what you have worked for all these years, it brings us to the sad reality that you will be leaving us. 37 The Prom consitcd of many hours of work. Thank you. Juniors! SENIORS SNEAK TO DENVER While on sneak, the seniors went to a movie. Hey! Where did the sponsors disappear to??? Our sneak started at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3. But with the send-off, we really didn’t sneak away. We arrived in Denver at the Holiday Inn and settled in. Of course, we had to check it out before we went to bed. The next day we were up bright and early for our 1st day of adventure. After breakfast we went to the Museum of Natural History. Some of us who had been there before went through it in about five minutes, but there were a few of us who took our time and enjoyed it. We also went to the Denver Zoo. We all had a great time watching how the monkeys related to Dean. (Just Joking!!) and how Rod tried to catch a souvenir. We then took a surprise stop at the Botanic Gardens. We went back to the motel to ready ourselves for supper. We went Chinese. While some of us left stuffed, others left with empty stomachs. The next day we went to Celebrity Lanes and blew a few bucks. We then went to Tivoli, an old brewery changed into a mall, where we looked around and took in a movie. We went to Heritage Square Opera House Dinner Theater for an evening of silence for some, filled with great food and super entertainment provided by some very talented performers. Before checking in that night, we took a quick trip up Lookout Mountain, disturbing a Heritage Square Opera House few couples, unintentionally. The next day we went to Coors Brewery and the Aurora Mall before heading into the sunset destined for home. We arrived at Lodgepole about 10:00 p.m. on the 6th. Our weekend had been filled with adventure and excitement. We also gained knowledge not to ride with Mr. Conroy in Denver and some very cherishable memories of our school days. 38 Hey. Mom. party over here! Rod Wilkins on a wild goose chase! This man was our sponsor? Gene Conroy telling Dean Soucie a bedtime story. Awards Night Awards night was held on May the 12th. THE TIME HAS COME AT LAST FOR EACH OF US TO GO OUR SEPARATE WAYS. WE’VEBEEN A FAMILY FOR SO LONG, AND IT’S HARD TO SAY GOODBYE. BUT IT’S JOYOUS TOKNOW THAT SOMEDAY, WE’LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN. IT WILL ALWAYS BE NICE TO KNOW THE LOVE IN WHICH WE’VE SHARED. IT WILL BE JOYOUS TO KNOW WE DON’T HAVE TO COME BACK, YET IT WILL BE SAD TO KNOW HOW MUCH WE’RE GOING TO MISS ALL OUR FRIENDS! OUT WE’LL GO INTO THE HUGE WORLD. FULL OF KNOWLEDGE, ONLY TO REALIZE HOW MUCH WE YET HAVE TO LEARN. REMINICING ABOUT THIS PART OF OUR LIFE, CHERISHING THE MEMORIES, WILL HELP US TO GET THROUGH THE REST OF OUR LIVES. THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND BAD, LET’S ALWAYS REMEMBER EACH OTHER AND HOW WE’VE HELPED EACH OTHER TO GROW. THEN LET’S CONTINUE ON WITH OUR LIVES, KEEPING IN MIND THAT THINGS WILL SOMEDAY GET BETTER. I WILL MISS YOU ALL!!!!! -ANITA MITCHELL 56
