It takes a deal of striving, and a firm and stern-set chin. No matter what the battle if you're really out to win. There's no easy path to glory, there’s no rosy road to fame, life, however we may view it, is no simple little game. But its prizes call for fighting, and endurance and for grit, for a rugged disposition and a don't-know-when-to-quit You must take a blow and give one, you must risk and you must lose, and expect that in the struggle, you will suffer with a bruise. But you mustn't wince or falter, if a task you once begin, be a man and face the battle— That's the only way to win. 19 HIGH-SCHOOL FOOTBALL Co-captains for the 1982-83 football season were Keith Huff Bruce Namuth. Christmas Fun in 9V showed the changes love can bring about during the Christmas Season. The opening scenes show a hustle of activity and excitement about the coming holiday. Grouchy Grandfather (Matthew Tilghman) puts a damper on the Christmas Spirit by refusing to play Santa at the School Christmas program. The Christmas Spirit (Ronda Gentry) shows Grandfather acts of kindness all around him and then he touches his hardened heart with the recreation of the natnnty scene (played by the Kindergarteners) of the very first Christmas. Finally Grandpa is humbled and surprises everyone at the school Christmas program by showing up as Santa. picture ft 1 Donald D.. Mr. Hammerwood, Darcy L. Many friends will soon leave To go out on their own, Bringing closer thoughts of my future. Senior year rushes to meet me, College just around the corner. I feel . . . As if I'm sprinting through the days Out of breath, wanting to slow the pace. Slow the hours to minutes To savor each more fully. To postpone the future Scared of what will come, The changes I may not like. I wish . . . For everyone and everything To remain the same. To keep the closeness And affection of my friends, For time to stand still. If not, Then for life always to be as good now. Lisa Haney 56
