CL J zofifizcy The year was nineteen seventy seven, a year t’was said was made in heaven. The grads that year were truly blessed, in fact those grads led all the rest. They studied hard while in school and since that day work's been the rule. Why some of those kids went right to the top and it's on their great deeds our spotlight stops. Now take Mark C. - a really fine lad and he really hasn't done too bad. He's the Ag. Secretary of the President's group. He has those farmers doing loops to loops. The price of corn is now five bucks, while the farmers ask ten for wheat and don't press their luck. So hooray for Mark - the farmer's friend, he brought prosperity to the farmers again. You remember Diane - a comely lass. She went to Hollywood with a blast. One day while watching those Angle girls, one of them lost her pretty curls. While cutting it close in front of a car, her hair got tangled in a CB spar. The director groaned - oh what shall I do? 1 need a beauty to carry through. Diane stepped up and said I'm made for the part. For me this will be a wonderful start. So now instead of the Majors chick, we see our Diane on that TV picture. One day E.K. said I need a partner, a fine young man - a real self starter. So Kevin washed his shin, shined his shoes, and put on a necktie of royal blue. He marched into the bank and I'm glad to relate, E.K. said you’re now president of The First State Bank. Kevin makes loans to all his friends, for pigs and Herefords and even for hens. So if you're in need of a buck or two, see Kevin; he'll be glad to lend it to you. Chuga, chuga down the track, comes old 298 the coal train's back. The engineer wears a big, big smile, for her trips completed - a thousand miles. She wears overalls and a bright red hat as she hauls that coal from Cheyenne to North Platte. You think it isn't a job for a girl, Terri can do it without messing her curls. Terry's been engineer on old 298 for 16 years and she's never been late. Schools dismissed - the flags unfurled and all because of a Lodgepole girl. You know that hi-jacker who stole a plane and wanted to be flown to .someplace in Maine. Well our Sam was on that ill fated flight. She got out her sketch pad and started to write. She drew a sketch of the hi-jacker’s face and slipped it to the F.B.I. in a travel case. Well the F.B.I. quickly cornered the man and gave all the honor to our Sam. Her sketch saved that plane and for a starter, she's now doing the face of Jimmy Carter. Mr. Thompson resigned - the board said what will we do. Then the Lodgepole School Board right out of the blue appointed our Michael as the new head man to head the school as only he can. Of course he promises to be extra tough. He knows all the rules and all that stuff. I'm sure he'll be the students friend cause he remembers the rules he tried to bend. They say he stands up front with his great big paddle and those bad boys really ski-daddle. Lodgepole's newest business is Star's Cut and Curl. She'll make you a new and beautiful girl. She dyes and she tints, she pin curls, she waves, her patrons are pleased and they really rave. When you enter that glamorous place you know you'll emerge with a whole new face. With a curl and a wash and a face uplift, she'll make you a beautiful glamorous dish. Why every week in flies a Corvair, so Star can do Rosemary Carter's hair. Emory wanted to be a cop. He wanted to make cars go and stop. He thought his life would be complete if he could ride in a cruiser's seat. Well Emory got his wish for sure. The life he leads is good and pure. He's traffic cop on Sunol's mean beat and keeps all loiterers off the street. So if a patrolman flags you down, it's probably Emory - best cop around. M

I, Valerie Bartling. will my ability to fall down stairs to anyone who thinks retreading tennis shoes is stupid and I will my brother Huggy to science in hopes that they can find out what is wrong with him. |, Star Mika, will Lenore one of my eyebrows so hers will quit falling off. and I will Marilyn the strength to stay up all night at Concerts so she will not miss out on any swimming pool activities. I, Terri Taylor, will my car (Big Bertha) to Cathi, Sherri or anyone who thinks they can keep her running long enough to drive and to Sherri the ability to look before she sits down on the registers so she doesn't have to change clothes. I. Kevin Sick, will Tim Bond my ability to gain weight in hopes that he won’t be too light for football next year. I, Judy Hornicek, will my long legs to Ron lessen in hopes that he will be able to reach the counter in the Library. I, Phil Dailey, will my ability to pass without studying to John Frerichs o that he will be able to compete in football next year. I. Mark Christensen, will my hair to Coach Stoll so it will keep his ears warm next basektball season. I, Sandy Schlaman, will my ability to work in the library to Lisa so that she can find all the books I lost and find all my errors. I, Tracey Market, will my wardrobe to Sandy Behrends in hopes that she can find something dressy to wear and to Tami K. my Saturday nights in hopes that she and Lawrence don't get too close. I, Diane Soucie, will my muscular arms to Huggy in hopes that he won’t have to lift weights over the summer and to Tami my contacts so she will have an excuse to get out of class. I, Sandy From, will my ability to go into hysterical laughter silently to Lenore so she won't embarrass herself and my ability to go duck-hunting and actually come home with a duck to Mark, Jeff and Ryan. I, Marcy Cade, will my ability to study to the sophomore boys in hopes that they will someday be able to graduate. I, Michael Wiest, will my elevated shoes to any guy that wants to date a taller girl. I, Fern Bartling, will my desk in accounting to anyone who has trouble staying awake during class. I, Gina Finnell, will my long hair to Fern, so she won’t feel bad about cutting hers. 13

Lodgopole's gym is full to the brim. The audience is quiet. Then breaks into a grin. The flaming red heads are on the floor and here comes the town team to play them once more. The girls are ready and oh what moves, look jumping center really smooth. Why if her hair wasn't so carroty red, I'd say that was Tracey Markel instead. Why yes it's Tracey, captain of the team, the greatest girls’ basketball team ever seen. They are all red-heads - really neat and Tracey's 70 points per game can't be beat. She went to school and for lots of pay, became a secretary in the CIA. On a one day inspection of rockets and missiles, with a loud band and a great big whistle, her boss was blown quite to bits - but Judy Homi-cek landed feet first right on the desk. Of a space ship on its way to the Milky Way, they pulled Judy in and saved the day. So now on every billboard her face can be seen. She's the very first of our astronaut queens. The assembly program at the school is about to begin with the seats all full. The program today is by an artist unique. She goes from school to school - a new one each week. She sets up her canvas and begins to draw, the audience can't believe what they saw. For with a few wiggly lines and some squares, Gina makes pictures to which none can compare. She made the teacher's pictures which hang in the hall. And the school kids all bow when they face that wall. Save the paper, save the gas, save on energy - don’t be last. Get a horse and visit your friends, heat your house with corn cob ends. Save our resources, we've so few, the future of our land depends on you. Chief conservationist of Nebraska's U., Fern Bartling is telling us all what to do. If we don’t conserve with might and main, we'll never have plenty on this earth again. Is 2 plus 2, four or is 2 plus 2, six? Are your sure it's the watch you need to fix? Does the cat say bow wow or the dog meow. Is the horse red - or was it the cow? If you're having troubles with your mind, ask Valerie to help you - she is really kind. She'll unscramble all your mixed up thoughts and you’ll give her money - lot and lots!! He chose to spend his life on the farm, he said for money, I don't give a dam. I’ll have me a few chickens and pigs, a little wheat and maybe a rig so that is how our Phil found the way with oil he really made that old farm pay. While working one night at a very late hour, in cataloging books, Sandy found one on flowers. She opened the book and to her surprise, out fell a letter that really opened her eyes. She opened it up and guess what it said; The map to a million dollars was marked in red. So Sandy grabbed her coat and followed the map. She traveled many a mile to where it was at, but her trip was rewarded with a cool billion. Our Sandy's a librarian, one in a million. One day in the library she read in a book of a far away place and she wanted to look. She wondered if in this Triangle fame, the ships really disappeared and were never the same. She heard of a pyramid under the sea, six hundred feet high and said that's for me. So Marcy Gade hired on with Jacques Cousteau, because she figured he'd really know. She bought a swimsuit and some diving gear, jumped right off the boat without any fear. She dove right down to the pyramid undersea and came back and said it's all true, believe me!!! Now wasn’t that a wonderful class to know? My those kids really did show what a lot they learned at Lod-gepole High from sports to books to apple pie. They've really made us very proud, the class of '77 will stand out in any crowd. 15
