Now that the summer’s cornin' on I’ll say good-bye. I'm not the first man or the last who had a thirst to leave the past. So while the autumn rain is falling I'll say good-bye. For every star that falls to earth a new one glows. For every dream that fades away a new one grows. When things are not what they would seem you must keep following your dream. So while my heart is still believing I'll say good-bye. Love is a sweet thing caught a moment and held in a golden eye. You can borrow but never own it after a while it says good-bye. Qoku r ffa)bmi The class of 1976 wanted to thank a very special person in a special way, for all the time, patience, and effort shown to us. A person who put in a lot of hours for each of us, and always lent a helping hand whenever we needed it. A person who never hesitated to bend over backwards for anyone. We respected him, confided in him, and learned from him every day, and we the Seniors feel that when the pages of our annual turn yellow with age, we'll still hold him very close in our hearts. Not only that, we think he's pretty cool. Thank you very much, Mr. Hartman. MR. STUTZMAN: Math; Asst. Those present include our good friends Mary Jo From, Lucille Bower and Mr. Gene Thompson. Of course they are all 10 years older and like all older people do - they are recalling the good days of the Bi-Centennial year, 1976. They have an annual and as they slowly turn the pages they often remark on that wonderful class of '76. Say do you remember Roger Behrends? The tall one about 6'20 with lots of blond hair well - Roger went to Nebraska, I mean to the U. He went out for basketball and inspired them, too. While at the U. he found a cute lass brought her home, married her - but that’s in the past. In 1982 he joined the New York Knicks, they thought he was really some kind of hick. But in 1986 - last year to be exact he averaged 65 points and that’s a fact. Voted player of the year in ’85 why man - he made those Knicks come alive. You remember Gwen - How cute she was? Yes, and really an artist too. Well as you probably already guessed. Gwen married her Darrell - should I tell you the rest? They live in Lodgepole next to the store and Gwen opened a paint shop right next door. She paints murals for all who come by and they say her prices are really sky high. Why President Reagan asked Gwen, too about painting the White House red, white and blue. Well, if Gwen is painting the White House what is Darrell doing? While Gwen's painting the White House and other things Darrell's busy in Lodgepole where he’s really king he manages the water and sewers and lights, he’s dog catcher, marshal and stops all the fights. And every night at half after eight he patrols the streets until nearly day break. He caught all those dragger - he didn't fail he caned them off to the city jail. You remember Deanna - Why of course whatever happened to Deanna? Well, one day early last year on a trip to the Ozarks I happened to be near a Holiday Inn just as it was getting dark I thought how fonunate - here’s where I'll park. I walked up to the inn and was pleasantly greeted by a beautiful girl - who said please be seated. I said, could I have a room for the night? She said, Why, of course - register just right. I said Deanna can that really be you? She laughed and said - It's really quite true I staned out as a maid along the line and decided I liked the motel job just fine so now I'm running this elegant Holiday and around 6 figures is my take-home pay. How about Cindy Anderson? Why I remember her - you know she lived across from the schoolhouse -kind of quiet - but awfully nice. Cindy A. went off to Chadron State and there she really met her fate, in the form of a football player big and tall and Cindy really fell - football and all, Now she lives on 5th Avenue in New York town, Herman’s a football player of great renown. While he's playing football - (player of the year), our Cindy sure has nothing to fear for she took up flying in a great big way, now she's first woman pilot for T.W. A. I know you remember Loomis Booth, say he had a lot of cars, didn't he? Well I’ll bet you never thought our own Loomy could do anything really, really gloomy, but Loomis changed haven't we all? He went off to school in the fall he studied investment, banking, bonds and stocks and now he’s Vice-President in charge of the locks. His best account is Miss Deaver he loaned her a million for a CB receiver. Now he's worried because if she doesn't pay, Loomy’H be out of a job most any day. You remember Donna, the pretty one who played the piano so well and accompanied everyone, well Donna is still pounding those keys. She's playing piano for a very high fee, she joined Larry's group -(Stoll's Stomping Band) - and played the piano all over this land. She’s married to the man on first saxophone, and raising 6 kids in a mobile home. How about Dale and Gale? They are still around Lodgepole aren’t they? Yea, I have heard they are really in the money. I wonder how they got it? Dale and Gale are digging holes all along the creek, every once in a while or about 500 feet. I've heard tell - it may be true, that there is treasure there known only to two, Gale found a map of the Lodgepole's creek terrain. It was supposedly drawn by an Indian chief who found the lost Dutchman mine and buried his gold along the creek between Colton and Lodgepole. So Gale and Dale each morning at seven are out digging holes till around eleven, they don't say what it is they have found, but they sure aren't quitting while there's gold around. And say here is a picture of Karen Huff we surely can't forget Karen, our Karen went off to Toning -ton U and there she learned a thing or two. First of all she learned to dig, never a dig proved too big, from buffalo bones to those of brontasarus, Karen never, never found a bone too porous. Her pictures in this month’s Nebraska Land with a mastadon she found under 20 feet of sand. She's famous now quite an authority on when the dinosaurs lived and were in the majority. And then there is Jeff, remember what a good time he had in school? Well, he's still having a good time I hear he is to be in Lodgepole this afternoon. The kids were as excited as could be, say did you know we get out at three? There’s a special showing in the park one of Lodgepole's famous who made his mark. In the world of T.V. movies and radio, is going to put on a very fine show, It's Jeff Midegadis and did you know, he’s bringing a seal act as pan of the show. Yes sir, his trained seals are really unique, there's one who can do a really great feat. His seal named Popeye carried secrets for spies, he's double ought seven’s best source of supply. The seal carried the news of Pearl Harbor's attack but the Japanese caught him and sent him back. Jeff got ahold of this genius creature and in his act Popeye’s the main feature!! How about Larry Stoll? 1 hear he's really been doing great things. This kid drove teachers crazy learning to beat. He banged and he drummed all over his seat, but now Larry's making all the jazz pay, in a really tremendous, stupendous way. He started out with a group of five, my they really could play and jive. He called them Stoll's Stampeding Stompers and believe me they were really rompers. They played every town from Peetz to Chicago that is said he really sets his prices high, one thousand bucks or even three for an evening’s work makes quite a fee. Next week let's meet at the Hilton, Lodgepole and listen to Larry's music it has soul. Oh say I hear Julie Yanney followed in her Dad's footsteps and went into the bank. Vice-president or cashier what is she now? Our Julie learned money and she knows how to make two dollars where before she had one. She's bound to be a millionaire before she's done. She's also married to a very fine man who stayed home and does dishes even the pans. For Julie is truly a financial whiz, she sure can tell you where the money is. How about Holly Jones? I've lost all track of her. Let's see I did hear she was in New York City -. The lights grow dim, a hush falls, the curtains open and that ain’t all. On the stage in a real cool gown is Lodgepole’s gift to tinsel town. Our own Holly Jones is really a sight, she's sure got it all just right. She sings, she dances, she really emotes, and she doesn’t do it by telling jokes. She started out with Stoll's Stomping group now she does it all knocks everyone for a loop. She teamed up with John Denver for one big blow and now she’s featured on the Mac Davis show. How about Friend Dickinson Jr.? Oh you mean Dickie? Of course, whatever happened to him? Well Dickie joined the Navy to see the world. I've heard he really wanted to see lots of girls. He joined the submariner's and when that ship started to dive he yelled let me off why man alive I'll do anything only let it be something that really appeals to me. They put him in a position to study maps, he's the one that started all that flap. Is the Bermuda Triangle really there? Dick says it is he even knows where ships disappear and never are seen. Dick says its a great blue whale really turned mean, this whale cruises the ocean just under the top and eats the men and ships who are unlucky to stop. You remember that cute Tami Mika from Sunol? Yes, she used to wait on me down at the Coffee Cup. She went with David Trump didn't she? One of those who stayed quite near was Tami Mika who started her career. She waited tables at the Coffee Cup and before long, she bought the place for a mere song. She hired a new cook one of Chinese descent and he sure helped her pay the rent. Chow mein, sour pork and Chinese egg roll, blackeyed peas, chittlins and food with soul. Well Tami s place is on the map, if you want good food Tami's is where it’s at. She changed the name to Tami's Tasty Delight, where the elite of Lodgepole meet each night. Did you hear that Dennis Trump is a surgeon? Yes a plastic surgeon, I believe. He has really done great things I hear with the Jet-Set crowd. Every Thursday night at half after seven on the T.V. there’s a new Dr. straight from heaven, he started out on Emergency but now he’s known as Dr. T. He operates on all never loses a case, his specialty is in transplants of the human face, if your ears are too big or your eyes too small. Dennis Trump will enlarge them to suit all. Just bring in a picture of the way you want to look and Dennis will fix you up just like the book. How about Pam Kahrs, 1 heard she went to California too. My goodness, some of those kids sure went a long way from Lodgepole, didn't they? Our Pam went way out West and learned to strut and model with the best. She got a job modeling on T.V. Things like toothpaste and coffee and Nestle's tea. Well anyhow she was soon so often seen that the National network said Pam you’re really keen won't you do the Today and the midnight show how about giving the news blow by blow. So today our Pami is the new Walter Cronkite and makes the news a real delight. Or at least if the news is really bad one look at Pam makes the whole world glad. Aren't you amazed at what those kids have done? My goodness they are really doing well. Such wonder, wonderful students - we are really going to miss them all at Lodgepole High. 70 C7L Ain . r f 4 « 0% «• hNM — y l ' J 4fib . - y'f . k «i CSA. «i • «4 y Ci m « w ■• Ivd jL.jL X, - A - y 1% r ( •,„ y «h nL £ £ ■■■ ■ t lJ mL+ mm !£ — I -M+J . .,.. x .. j j d — fJAp i u t y j£ %+ -.
