Text from Pages 1 - 72 of the 1973 volume:

PANTHER Lodgepole Public Schools Lodgepole, Nebraska FOREWARD As we leave this year, we will take with us many cherished memories. But, we will also be looking forward to tomorrow wfch great expectation. We will make our plans today and have faith that they will provide for tomorrow. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow -all hold memories, hopes, and faith. Dedicated to You Mr. Davis What can you say About a man who was always there, About a friend to you and me, About a leader who was always fair? What can you say To apologize for four years of life. To express your deep apprecation. To give thanks for long hours of work and strife? What can you say When happiness and sadness end, When lectures and homework cease When the last caps and gowns down the steps descend? What can you say? Two simple words contain all of our Tears and fears, hopes and disappointments, Joys and sadnesses, - and love. Thank you To the Class of 1973: During your 12 years of education it has been our hope that we have helped you realize your potential and that you realize the significance of your life to yourself and to others. It must also be realized, as stated by the late Abraham Flexner, a noted educator, that Without ideals, without effort, without scholarship, without philosophical continuity, there is no such thing as education.” Wishing You The Best of Success In the Future. I'll have to stay at home again. What shall I do? 1 guess I'll take a lbok in that old Panther book. Some of the kids are still around, I wonder where the rest can be found. I'll start in the front and on every page. I find a school friend just my age. Here's Cathy and Peggy and Pat and Terri, and Don and Doug and David and Mary (Marion that is.) Oh, where are they tonight? What have they done, why here is an account for everyone. Through space the lonely sky lab flies, chief engineer KEN looking very wise, checks the nuts and bolts and electrical connections, for he is in charge of the kitchen section. He heats the water to boiling - just so, and prepares instant soup for his team on the go. Who's this in a uniform of spotless white, in a lab that's full of tubes -.really bright! Our Cathy's concocting her favorite brew, made her a millionaire and quickly too. Her dandelion punch is absolutely guaranteed, by weight watchers international for those who need, to take off pounds quickly and without a diet, if you want to lose weight, you really should try it! Off to Lincoln's school went Peggy Huff, to learn typing and shorthand, all that stuff. The very first day she met a guy, who said why Peg you should at least try, for a gal with a voice like you possess, On the T. V. you'd be an instant success. So Peg went down to the T. V. station, and now broadcasts the weather over the nation. Ladies fashions for the elite, boasts the sign on Lodgepole's street. If you need something extra, special fine, see Melvin's extra, fancy line. His prom dresses are really extr? snazzy and his men's wear is truly classy. Mrs. Montag opened her literature book, and said, Class we'll now have a look at Lodgepole’s only living scholar, who has ever earned a million dollars. With her super sleuth J. D. Smyth, Marion's created a hero with a dare-devil life. He solves his cases with the F. B. I. and he's rated as fiction's number one spy. Her desire she said was to be in Home Ec., she studied many, many hours, by heck. No longer is sewing required in design, just use tissue paper and a stapler, swingline. For needles and thread are passe my friend, it's staples and Elmer's your clothes to mend. Janet designed new football suits for the Bears. With paper tear away jerseys the team has no cares. Our Pat wanted to do great things, she wanted money and diamond rings. While attending a school for den st’s aids, she invented a mouthwash which surely has paid. Now this mouth wash, when sprayed in the proper place, takes complete care of cavities in every case. She patented her spray for some million bucks, she lives in the Riviera as a result of such luck. He started out to farm not really rushing, and then suddenly from the earth came gushing. Oil - Black gold, that black sticky stuff. Bob joined the jet set and got out of the rough, he flies his plane a DC7 married Ali Mc-Graw and is on his way to heaven. His trophies cover his living room wall, he won in bronc busting, barrels and all. Our David strides forth and straps on his chaps, he rides those wild horses right off the map. He’s brave, he's courageous and quite noble too, he tips his hat to the ladies when he's through. The cars are racing round and round. Can running sweetly is a pleasing sound. When all of a second - kerpow, bloom, splat, the car hits an oil slick and that is that. But wait, here comes Eddie right out of the pit, and single-handed straightens fenders and all that bit. The drivers at the Indy swear only Ed could make a car run again after it's dead. Can you believe it? They actually won. Don's team won the playoffs and oh what fun. Against the Knicks our Lodgepole team won the playoffs - they were really right on the beam. Now Lodgepole is world Champs for '82 we owe it all to Don, he brought our team through. As every August and September roll around, we find at our fairs a wonderful sound. Ladies and gents step right this way. Don't you want healthfood and vitamins today? Just look at me, I eat organic food, if you want to look like me you surely should. All the gals immediately throw down their pay, cause they'd sure like to look like Debbie today. Watch out here comes the train down the line. Listen to the whistling - it's really fine. Do you know who's job it is to whistle at every town crossing and even at thistles? Why Ronnie of course has that important task, he learned his whistling in every class! Doug Zalesky, private eye, is on the look-out for all types. With his trench coat belted he hunts them down, in disguise he often scouts out the town. Tracking out girls he does the best, he never lets any of his suspects rest. From Rome to Vienna to Zanzibar he's on Search's payroll, a really great star. Vickey Zalesky is the name you see when you enter the door marked psychology. Her patients are the elite of every town. She's a headshrinker of great renown. Doctor, on doctor I'm so distraught. My husband says it's me who’s off, but doctor how can that be true when he's the one who dyed himself blue? Such are the cases you're apt to hear if you go to Vickie's office anytime of the year. Oh, let's go back to school once more, why it’s Terri Machek at the door. She says come right in and welcome all, to these hallowed and most respected halls. I took Millie's job in the library, you know, and I keep my books in a very neat row. The adventures of Super-Cat is the name they've brought comic-artist Daryll fame. Super Cat is his hero - really smooth. He's on every Saturday morning and he really moves. And Daryll sits back in his luxury suit and draws in about 50 thousand a week. M The class of ”73 is doing fine. Very successful in every line. I knew those kids were really great, my goodness, you can see for yourself how they rate.
