PANTHER LODGEPOLE HIGH SCHOOL LODGEPOLE, NEBRASKA FOREWORD And what is a yearbook? Not just Lodgepole students and Lodgepole teachers, not just victorious athletic teams, talented musical groups--but the essence, the vitality, the warmth, the intangible, living heart of all these--so a yearbook is .like a magic mirror--capturing, holding, and reflecting forever the vibrant force and personality of Lodgepole students. A yearbook is people—and people are laughter, tears, cheers, dreams, studies, goofing-off. People with growing-hurts! And a yearbook is events—proms, music, dates, and lack of dates. Football games won and celebrated, football games lost with tired senior players walking silently together for a last look at the now-empty stadium, turning quickly away with unbidden tears. A yearbook is life--a year of life—a year lived—a year now gone . . . MRS. THOELCKE We Dedicate the Panther to Our Teacher ... Our Friend God gave to you that rarest gift, An understanding heart, A gentle, kindly manner Your wisdom to impart. Oh, some may build with steel and iron To pave their way to fame. But you are building character, A lasting tribute to your name. The lives you touch, the good you do Shall never know an end, And we are proud to call you ... Our teacher and our friend. SUPERINTENDENT MR. BOSLEY MESSAGE FOR THE YEARBOOK The history of man is itself a story of change, and one American trait has always been to look to education to solve each new problem of society. People have come to look upon education as an investment and as an institution vitally important to life in an age characterized by turmoil and change. All persons interested in the good of the schools must see to it that the schools meet squarely the challenge that change has presented: to change rapidly enough to keep up with a changing society, to adopt the best new practices fast enough to do the most good for the most students, yet to avoid grasping each new fad just because it is new, to institute only the changes that are educationally sound. This is your challenge! MRS. THOELCKE High School Principal Home Economics International Studies 10 MISS ALLEN French American History American Government MR. NEILL Band Chorus Elementary Music MR.
