CLASS HISTORY On September 3, 1944, 26 bright eyed youngsters anxiously waited on the steps of a large brick building in Lodge Pole. That long awaited day had finally arrived--the first day of school! Those to answer roll were--Connie and Lonnie Ammerman, Frank and Joe Aguiniga, Leland Beel, Karen Bondegard, Jim Brown, Sharon Emanuelson, Cherrill Hobson, Marvin Jeudes, Cecil Killgore, Justin Levier, Robert Lindsey, Harold Lutkehus, Danny Markel, Pat Mika, Betty Lou and Lloyd Pilowski, Sally Pace, Wilbur Rocker, Joyce Rogers, Laurence Saali, Peggy Simpson, Frances Treblik, Buster Ulmschneider, and Bonnie Zalesky. Those to join us during the rest of our grade school years were: Billy Channel, Dick Hernbloom, Francis Kripal, Audrey Quinn, Charles Meyer, Robert Ommen, Virginia Stickley, Robert Anderson, Veatha Dorn, and Richard Crabb. Those to leave were: Frank and Joe Aguiniga, Leland Beel, Cecil Killgore, Justin Levier, Robert Lindsey, Harold Lutkehus, Danny Markel, Pat Mika, Lloyd and Betty Lou Pilowski, Sally Pace, Wilbur Rocker, Joyce Rogers, Laurence Saali, Peggy Simpson, Robert Anderson, Veatha Dorn, and Billy Channel. Then came the day of Eighth Grade Graduation, and we were ready to enter high school. Of the original class only nine entered the Freshman class. Those to join us in the ninth grade were: LaDean Scharrel, Gary Bartling, Gene Bond, Twila Flessner, David Ihrig, Senta Pivonka, Gloria Sheridan, Ann Thompson, Kenny Weyerts, Wyona Wiegers, Alvin Bennet, Roland Callies, and Leo Robertson. Those to leave were Senta, Richard, Alvin, Roland, LaDean, and Leo. The highlights of our high school days were Sophomore Initiation, where the upperclassmen made us dress up as people of different occupations. Sophomore Class Plays -WILBUR'S WILD NIGHT and ELMER AND THE LOVE BUG - our Junior Class Play - THE HOUSE OF HEALTH - our Proms and Banquets, Sneak Day, Class Breakfast, Baccalaureate and Commencement. Those in the graduating class of 1956 are Connie and Lonnie Ammerman, Gary Bartling, Gene Bond, Jim Brown, Karen Bondegard, Sharon Emanuelson, Twila Flessner, Dick Hernbloom, Cherrill Hobson, Dave Ihrig, Francis Kripal, Charles Meyer, Robert Ommen, Audrey Quinn, Virginia Stickley, Gloria Sheridan, Ann Thompson, Frances Treblik, Buster Ulmschneider, Kenny Weyerts, Wyona Wiegers, and Bonnie Zalesky. We have had many wonderful times in school and will remember them always. We wish to take this opportunity to thank our parents and all our teachers for their help and guidance through these last twelve years. FRANCES T., a mischievous gal, to her, everyone is her pal. BUSTER U., our president this year, is always happy and full of good cheer. ROBERT O., the football fan, in our class is really grand. GENE B., is the clown of the class, we know he's after a red-headed lass. BONNIE Z., the gal with blonde hair, Ivan B. is her only care. SHARON E., who is short and sweet, to us seniors, can’t be beat. CHERRILL H., the worker of our class, we all know is a mighty fine lass. ANN T., is a girl who is very sweet, She keeps Harold within her reach. AUDREY Q., who writes letters everyday, keeps Gene company far away. VIRGINIA S., is a girl who likes to work, one that doesn't sit and flirt. TWILA S., the first married in our class, will be remembered as a friendly lass. FRANCIS K., is quite a kid, his pride and joy is his '51 Chev. CHARLIE M., is an all around athlete, we seniors know he'll never be beat. DICK H., is the short boy in our class, in his Chevy he burns too much gas. JIM B., to be a veterinary is his plan, we all know he'll do the best he can. DAVID I., a typical boy, to make people laugh is his greatest joy. GARY B., the kid with the dark-rimmed glasses, he's the tallest lad in all our classes. GLORIA S., the gal with the pony-tail, when she goes to college she'll really sail. LONNIE A., who is really a treat, as a volley ball player can't be beat. CONNIE A ., a girl who is really grand, keeps her eye on Larry Brand. KAREN B., who is a quiet lass, should graduate highest in our class. CLASS PROPHECY Dear Karen, I just heard about your new job as secretary to the President of the United States and I want to be the first to congratulate you. I know you’ve been awfully busy these past few years, so I thought you would like to know what the rest of our former classmates have been doing over the past twenty years . Connie Ammerman married Larry Brand shortly after graduation and, after taking a beauty course, she is now operating her own shop in Sunol. Beauticians seem to run in the Ammerman family for her twin sister, Lonnie, is operating an exclusive beauty salon in Hong Kong. Gary Bartling is Dean of Colton’s famous college for girls and I understand he leads a very exciting life with 643 girls on the campus. Jim Brown has recently been awarded the Horseman's Medal for inventing a new medicine for the cure of horse polio. He has become a world renowned Veterinarian. Gene Bond, after graduating from the University of Nebraska with an agricultural major, is now farming around Crab Tree Corners Kansas. Buster Ulmschneider received a degree in Engineering and is now constructing a multa-million dollar popcorn factory in the African Jungle. Virginia Stickley started working as a stewardess for Trans-World Airlines and now is Vice President of the company. Bonnie Zalesky went to business college and is now a private secretary at Sherman's Safety Pin Factory in India. Robert Ommen went to Agricultural College and is now farming half of Western Nebraska . He runs a close second to Kenneth Weyerts who is known as Nebraska's biggest wheat farmer. He's also known as King Oil Well since his last well, number 112, came in. Charles Meyer graduated from Kearney and is now a high school coach in Kobblers Knob, New Mexico. Gloria Sheridan became the first woman mayor of Lodge Pole and she has brought many improvements to the community. Audrey Quinn married Gene Thompson and she is now living in Boston where Gene is head of the Massachusetts Safety Patrol. David Ihrig received a Master's Degree in Engineering and is now constructing a church for his father. After graduating from college, Francis Kripal came back to Lodge Pole and is owner of Kripal's Cadillac Garage. Twila Flessner married Dick Sick and they are living on a farm on the outskirts of Lodge Pole. Dick Hernbloom went to Hollywood where he is now the leading man in a movie entitled THE GREAT LOVER. He is playing opposite Marilyn Monroe. Sharon Emanuelson is teaching kindergarten in Nome Alaska, she has 231 pupils. Ann Thompson married Harold Whitefoot and she is working in the telephone office in Sterling. Frances Treblik is now on a world tour demonstrating the fine points in the art of ballet. Wyona Wiegers married Kenny Hyatt and is now kept busy raising her family of 14. I married Ross Brestel and we’re living in Chappell. As a hobby, I design clothes. Write sometime and tell me how you are getting along.
