Those youngsters were: Bob Ammerman, Jane Brown, Dick Brown, Clara Mae Hill, Jim Reichert, Larry Rentz, Jim Rogers, Robert Wayne Rufenacht, Ronald Stallings, and Nancy Wise. During our second year Ronald Stallings, Robert Rufenacht, Junior Reichert, Billy Powell, Rex Miller, Lois Meyer, and Clara Mae Hill, all left our class leaving us eight students in the second grade. Through the eight long years in the grades a few other pupils joined our class. Some dropped by the wayside, while others moved to new locations. It was in the fall of 1950 that the big day arrived, the entrance of the Class of into the life of the High School. On that day of September L-, 1950, twenty-four teenage boys and girls with shining faces beamed at their High School teachers. Those answering roll besides our elementary stand-bys were: Janice Bartling, Marvin and Merlin Boehmer, Virginia Bond, Sharol Brown, Anna Mae Crabb, Ronald Crabb, Dixie Dykman, Roberta Franzen, Marvin Hokom, Gene Thompson, and Dorothy Brown. As our second year of High School came, we lost two of our classmates: Jerry Helfrich went to the St. Pats Academy, and Dorothy Brown went to Brule. It was this year we waited for the day that the upper classmen were going to initiate us. The theme they chose was Sports we will remember this day as a lot of fun. Our Junior year found us deep in plans for the class play and Junior-Senior Banquet. Dike all other classes, we had our share of heartaches and disappointments. When the fall of 1953 rolled around, and the Seniors tripped lightly up the stairs to the assembly, glad that this, their last year in Lodgepole High, was soon going to end. Those answering roll call for their last year were: Bob Ammerman, Janice Bartling, Marvin and Merlin Boehmer, Virginia Bond. Dick and Jane Brown, Sharol Brown, Anna Mae Crabb, Ronald Crabb, Dixie Dykman, Roberta Franzen, Duane Hembloom, Marvin Hokom, Ruby Jessen, Ruthann Meyer, Marie Phelps, Jim Markel, Larry Rentz, Ronald Rogers, Gene Thompson, and Nancy Wise. This last year has been an exciting and happy year for all of us. We took a sneak during November to Denver, Colorado, we edited the PANTHER HILITE, and published our annual the PANTHER. We presented a class play, which we enjoyed putting on. From 19L-2-195L- seems to be a long, long time to any boy or girl; but looking backward from 195l+-19l+2, time seems to short for twelve years of happy school life. With a sigh each of us look upon those memories that are cherished by each one of us. NANCY WISE Voted by the students of Lodge Pole High as The Most Popluar Girl and The Best All-Around Girl . Voted by the students of Lodge Pole High as Best Athlete . GENE THOMPSON MARVIN HOKOM ANNA MAE CRABB Voted by the students of Lodge Pole High as The Girl Most Likely to Succeed . After reaching Denver, the seniors and their sponsors checked Into the Shlrley-Savoy Hotel which was where we stayed. The weekend was spent In shopping, touring the Interesting places of Denver, Journeying to the Red Rocks, and going to the movies. Everybody that went agreed that this was the outstanding event of the senior year and would be remembered for a long time. SLEEPY OH GO AWAY CLASS OF 195Vs ALMA MATER Tune: Far Above Cayuga's Water Far above the town of Lodge Pole, With Its citizens so true. Stands our noble Lodge Pole High School Glorious to view. Far above the busy humming Of the bystling town, Reared against the Lodge Pole Valley Looks she proudly down. We the class of fifty-four This our motto be; Build for character not for fame As we leave thee. Firm upon the rugged hilltop Stand her stronr walls. Onward may her students march, Onward through her halls. With their moments swiftly flying, Ages roll on by. Students as yet unborn shall hail her, As her colors fly. We the class of fifty-four This our motto be: Build for character not for fame As we leave thee. Class Color Navy Blue and White Class Flower White Rose Class Motto Build For Character Not For Fame This is the class poem, as you can guess, It'B from the '54 class of L. P. H. S. We here ty leave to you this little verse. It could be better and it could be worse. First in the alphabet is Bob. is to his studies he's never oh the Job. To Bert, writing letters is her joy, And most of them go to a certain boy. Jo B rtling, who always wears a smile, hakes everything she does worth-while. IXiane Hernbloom is a quiet guy. With his 53 Chev. he really does fly. In sports Marv. £. is an all-around man. He has his eye on Nancy Ann. Marvin E., our president this year, A scholar of the class and full of good cheer. Merlin, our clown, is quite a guy. And with the girls he's never shy. Buoy is a brown-haired girl. The life she leads is a merry whirl. loan, among the top of the class, is Gin. Jbr everyone alike she always has a grin. Jim Marvel's future is uncertain, But he'8 known for sports and flirtin'. Dick Brown is a handsome boy. His camera is his pride and Joy. But hie is a gay and happy lass. She is the only blonde in our class. And then comes Jane, a cute little gal, Everyone in school is her pal. Marie is a hard worker, it's true. All her letters go to a guy in blue. Sharol is a girl who'B lots of fun. She takes life as it may come. Larry Bentz, a guy who is short, Win or lose no's always a good sport. Anna -Mae Cr bb, better known as Mac. That she is a brain is a well known fact. Gene, for hunting and sports, is always on banc To Audrey Cfljinn he seems pretty grand. Bonald is a boy who enjoys lots of fun, And is always ready to help anyone. Bonald Sogers is the oldest of the class. As of yet he doesn't have any certain lass. Our cheerleader all four years has been Lee. Nancy, as Pep Club President, is Just right. She has her eye on Lean it's plain to see. She really pitches in for the old Blue White Senior Class Play On Tuesday, November 2 th the LPHS Senior Class presented their play to a large audience. It was a three act comedy entitled They Gave Him A Coed , written by John Nash. The set for the play was that of a lounge room in a college assembly building. The topic of the hour is the new dean, Charles Bradley Brown, whose arrival is momentarily expected. In pops a new student with the coincidental name Dean Brown, (Marvin Hokom). He's a plain unvarnished American boy, simply unmindful of his many educational shortcomings, yet frank and breezy as youth can be. His name electrifies the group of students and the fun market begins doing business. Dean is assigned one of the girls, (Dixie Dykman) to be his secretary. The Registrar, (Anna Mae Crabb) persists in giving Dean an advance on his salary. Poor guy, he's thrown overboard in a maelstrom of riotous happenings that would be chaotically bewildering if it were not that they were not so cleverly knit together. When the real dean, (Marvin Boehmer) comes along he's mistakenly thought to be an escaped lunatic. Other characters were: Gary Blaine-(Jim Markel), Dal Thoma8-(Duane Hernbloom), Chuck Rhoades-(Larry Rentz), Herb Grant-(Dick Brown), Una Scanlon-(Virginia Bond), Margie Thorn-hl11-(Ruthann Meyer), Emily Wayne-(Jane Brown), lone Babson-(Janice Bartllng), Roland Graves-(Gene Thompson), Beth Hanson-(Roberta Pranzen), Mabel Reese-(Nancy Wise), and The Stranger-(Merlin Boehmer). The scene takes place at the Lodge Pole schoolhouse In the year 197 +, ‘venty years after the graduation of the class of '5 +, at a class reunion. We are welcomed to the reunion by Virginia Bond who was selected as Miss Oil Well of 197l+ because she is the only old maid having 113 oil wells. Robert Ammerman is the proprietor of a place once known to us as Elmer's . It is now called Bob's Beanery . Janice Bartling and Anna Mae Crabb, after finally finding a baby sitter arrive together. They a e both married and are having a race to see who can have nine boys first. Anna Mae is ahead with five and Janice has four. Marvin Boehraer and Nancy Wise are happily married. They have two boys and two girls. The boys are following in their mother's footsteps and are majoring in music, while the girls like basketball. Merlin Boehmer has the honor of coming the furthest to be at the reunion. He now lives in Alaska with the pretty Hawaiian girl he married several years ago. We learn that Dick Brown, the only member of the class of '5 who couldn't attend, is still in the navy and takes a picture of a girl in every port. Sharol Brown and Jane Brown arrive in the house-trailor in which they are touring the United States. They plan to tour the world as soon as they find an airplane big enough to hold all their earrings. Roberta Franzen and Ronnie Sick were soon married and are running a sweater factory in Sunol. We learn from Roberta that Dixie Dykman, who hasn't arrived as yet, didn't get married but took up wrestling and is now champion lady wrestler of the world. Duane Hernbloom drives up with his Cadillac and everyone notices the California license plates. It seems as if he went to Hollywood, took a screen test, and has starred in several movies. His latest one being The Girls in My Life . Suddenly we hear a loud roar, a screeching of brakes, a car door slam, and who rushes in? None other than Ruby Jessen who has taken up car racing and is now champion woman racer of the world. Ruby and her ole Merc are sure making a place for themselves in the world. Honored guest at the reunion is Marvin Hokom, the new Republican president. He ran against our senior sponsor, Mr. Flower, and won by a large majority. His good looks helped a lot in getting the women's vote. Jim Markel and Ruthann Meyer arrive together. Jim is still the man about town and Bob's biggest paying customer. Ruthie worked up to owner of Lindley's Grocery Store which is now known as Ruthie's Market. Marie Humphrey, the only girl married before graduation, now is co-editor along with her husband of the LODGEPOLE JOURNAL. The JOURNAL is running a feature story of the reunion. Fortunately the Yankees were playing an exhibition game against the Sunol Mustangs otherwise Larry Rentz, one of the greatest baseball players in history would not have been able to attend. He has led the Yanks to twelve straight pennants much to the delight of their manager Mr. Flower. Cruising the streets of Lodge Pole in his patrol car is Gene Thompson. He isn't married yet but is still just looking around. He got a medal last year for giving 896 tickets in three months which is an all time record. After having a delicious banquet down at Bob's Beanery the class of 195U decides to hold another reunion again in twenty years to see what everyone is doing in 199 Junior-Senior Banquet Prom 1953 On April 27, 1953, the Junior Class honored the Senior Class with the annual Junior-Senior banauet and prom. The theme of Stardust was followed through in scenery and table decorations. Blue and silver being the predominating decorative colors. A trelis covered with a blooming rose vine enhanced the entrance. In one corner a rose garden and bird bath were attractively arrayed. In the far north corner awater spray, highlighted by changing colored lights, brought the magic of a wishing well into the room. A full moon shone forth from the starlit night. The tables were centered with sweet-peas surrounding a blue candle set in a star shaped holder. Silver and blue star wagon nut cups were used. Napkins and programs were attractively decorated with blue star replicas. Marvin Hokom presided as Toastmaster. Robert Teague responded to the Junior Toast. Nancy Wise honored with the theme song Stardust . Kathleen Lenz read the class history,Sally Holtman read the class poem.
