The society of this year consists of six members, four seniors, and two Juniors, who have a scholastic average of 3.5 or better. In order to be a member, a student must have these four qualities: char- acter the force 1n one man that distinguishes him from othersg scholarship-a love of learningg leadersh1p the ablllty to exert a wholesome lnfluence on the schoolg service the willingness to work without glory for the happiness of both pupils and teachers. A student must have attended our school for one year and must have an average of 3.5. This year the society sponsored a tea for prospective members. The sell- ing of cookies in the hall for a plaque is the main project of the year. Each year we give the Honor Society tapping assembly which is the most 1mpress1ve and beautiful of all assemblies. This assembly is for the recognition of those stu- dents who have met the requirements, and by a vote of the faculty, have been selected as a member of the Society. A student who maintains the standards of our society throughout his school life may wear his National Honor Society Pin with pride and may feel that he has a worthwhile life ahead. 49 QC.KL4v EX 'Nr SP Qfikwg -N -.Q-J' Y! PERFUR ERS Washington Washington what a wonderful place With its gleaming monuments and marvelous sights Washington certainly is a beautiful city The Seniors of 54 will always remember Washington but not all of them for the same reason Some will remember it for the beautiful buildings or the various institutions and a few will remember it for the crazy music heard at the Park Side Cafe No matter what the reason we will all remember Washington but one question Why did they build the buildings so far apart? The trip started with a big send off by parents and friends After having been escorted out of town we settled down to the singing of One Scotch One Burbon One Beer and HoneyHush Having completed ten hours of this we decided that a little rest would recondition us for the early morning tour of Gettysburg If only we had received the cooperation of Carl Schwrng dawn would not have found twenty seven seniors with blood shot eyes and wrinkled clothes sleepily tumbling off the bus to meet their guide who was to accompany them on the tour of the battleground lf the guide had not had such a soothing voice I am sure we would have gotten more out of the tour Quiet sleeping seniors Whenwe finally arrived in the great white city we immediate ly registered at the Hamilton Hotel After a quick shower and a fast change we all met in the lobby where we heard the glorious words You re on your own The next morning brought about another meeting in the lobby and the start of our tours To men- tion a few. JIS' P 86 BACCALAUREATE vw Fl-if Vs- On June 6th at 4 00 P M fifty two seniors marched into the auditorium to the strains of Faith of Our Fathers This was the beginning of our final week at Lockland High School Of course we felt very proud and important but as the Rev Sensibaugh spoke on 'Put Forth Thy Hand we realized there is still much to learn that this WaS only the beginning The service was one of the most important services during our school career and we will be reminded of it as we make decisions in the future CLASS NIGHT Wednesday June 9th was class night. Here we were saying our last fare wells before commencement. The evening began with a group of senior musicians playing some real ter- rific Dixieland. Awards were thenpresented, followed by a girls' chorus. Who will ever forget our skit, Infiltration of Over-Privileged Teachers, with Mr. R. U. Dunce, Miss Littletwig, Mr. Rightlar, and Miss Affectionate!! Of course the verdict was guilty and the sentence was 30 more years of teach- ing at Lockland High School. After a few comical awards were given to our teachers,we closed the even- ing by singing our Alma Mater . 87 THE FINAL PERFORMANCE This was the end of our last week at Lockland High School It just seemed to fly There we were sitt ng on the stage try ng to realize that things would never be the same as our Valedictorian said during the course of the evening We probably never again would be assembled in one group Our speaker for the evening Harry Heffner used the topic Who Goes Your ing the development of character and personality As we left the auditorium and walked down the halls for the last time as sen 1ors we realized what these twelve years had done for us They had prepared us for this very night when we would leave Lockland High School and enter into the world where a great deal would be expected of us Thanks to our teachers parents and friends we shall be ready 88 0 . i i . . , . . . . . , . . ,, ' ' ll D: a 2 Way, to address the class.
