GIRLS BASKETBALL HAS LATE SEASON RALLY The Livingston High School girls basketball team, led by senior co- captains Mary Ellen Joyce and Leah Finkel, showed great improvement this year and finished the season with an 8-12 record. Mary Ellen's high shooting percentage made the difference in several late season victo- ries over tough competitiong tenacious one-on-one defense by Leah brought high-scoring opponents almost to a standstill against the Lanc- er lasses. Seniors Julie Potter and Karen Turi hit for key baskets and forced turnovers in critical defensive play all season long. With six varsity players returning, Coach Pam Clause looks forward to a winning season next year. Junior Fran Miller, whose versatility as an all-around playmaker, shooting star, and defensive stalwart developed strongly this past season, is likely to be the mainstay of the team. Junior Mary Jo McHugh, at 5'1O , will provide rebounding strength under the boards. Sophomore Helene Freda will be counted on for continued high scoring, while Debbie Siegel, also a sophomore, is ex- pected to be a fourth starter with all-around capability. Juniors Liz Meyler and Mary Hauck will round out the squad, providing Coach Clause with a Top Six in their second consecutive year of play together. The combination of experience and talent will make the Lancers a tough team to beat in 1980-81. .,,f5 ga 11 2 Y i I fa N12 20 X., Front row: Debbie Siegel, co-captains Leah Finkel and Mary Ellen Joyce, Helene Freda.
