As able leaders, Harold Bradley was elec+ed president Mary Lou Dale, vice- presidenh Evelyn Johnson, secre+aryg and Eugene Pendergrass, freasurer, for fhe fall lerm. The girls' baslrefball +eam received Alice Kirby, Margarei Jaclrson, and Evelyn John- son, who also coached +he Sophomore girls lo vicicry in lhe lnframural Tournament The class confribufed Johnny Hife, Calvin Spoke Emery, and Enoch Thwea+, who capably 'Filled iheir respecfive posificns, and aided +he feam in a successful season. Ai fhe beginning of +he spring lerm new fervor was added in fhe Sophomore class wilh +he elecfion of Horfon Brooks as presi- denfg Billy Brenf, vice-presiden+g Jim Rob- erfson, secrefaryg Virginia Washingfon, +reas- urer, replacing The officers of fhe previous ferm. Glen Hanson and Jack lrvin, silver- fongued orafors. broughl honors +o lhe class and lhe school wifh fheir achievemenls in fhe various fournamenfs. Bofh fhe hardwood and fhe gridiron fell fhe fury of ihis class which conlribured more oul- slanding players fhan any ofher class fhis year. All buf one member of fhe regular baslrefball ieam and a greai number of players on 'fhe foofball ieam were Juniors. Marieffa Marshall and Jane Dabney led 'rhe Forensic acfivifies of fhis class. O+hers con- slanily ran fhem a close race io add fame fo fhe conquering Juniors in lhe many lournamenis in which fhey parficipafed. The Delia Tau Phi Chapler of lhe Nafional Honor Socie+y increased Hs membership by fhe addilion of no less lhan lwenfy Juniors on i+s roll and prospecls of more members from fhis versalile class in fhe oifing. The girls' sex'le'f received several lassies from rhe Junior Class and +he feam's good work on fhe courf was due, fo a large exlenl, lo rhis valuable addifion. As fhe leaves began lo fall, lhe Juniors pleas- anfly surprised lheir rival classes by enferfain- ing al' a Harvesi Ball. FRESH Well, well, here's Mr. Braswell sponsoring anolher Freshman Class! As usual, +hey were quife awed by lhe surroundings, buf lhey soon overcame lhal' and began lo feel af home and look an aclive parl' in lhe school's acfivilies. Sue Daniels and Evelyn Buchanan came Through wifh flying colors in lhe one-acl play presenfed in lhe Davidson Counly Infer- scholaslic Lilerary League wifh Evelyn Buch- anan winning firsf place in +he all-slar casl. Parlicipafing in ofher branches of forensic work were Johnny Lawrence, Barbara Thomas, Cecil Corley, Eleanor Claire Aflrin- son, Sue Daniels, Ann Burch, Carolyn Slerry, Mary Jane lriclr, and Palsy DuMonf. The dramalic abilily of lhe Freshmen was displayed in +he annual Sfunf Nighl wifh iheir skil, Reproducfions of Boolrs l Have Read. Came basielball season, and fhe Freshmen were well represenfed by Marlha Neese who was a valuable addifion lo lhe girls' squad. ln lhe lnlramural Tournamenf lhe Freshmen Girls were coached by Marfha, while Lloyd Pullias and Jimmy Garrefl, subs lor lhe varsify squad, coached fhe Freshman boys lo viclory. Good work, fellows! The Freshmen welcomed lhe firsl days of spring wifh a dance given in lhe gym in honor ol lhe Honor Sociely. You've done a swell iob, Freshmen, buf your besf years are ye? fo come.
