l CONTINUE SHIP WORK The noon meal completed, the men of the crew return to their daily tasks in the operation and maintenance of the ship. Each man is assigned his share of the workload. From the Cap- tain down to the most junior nonrated man each member of the shipfs company performs as a member of a team Whose goal is the sharpest flagship and the most effective warship in the fleet. Each man is important and each job necessary. A war- ship never sleeps. From the moment her commissioning pen- nant is broken to the moment it is finally hauled down men are awake, operating, repairing, and cleaning. A ship is a living thing. The kind of life she leads depends upon the men who are her crew. V

FLIGHT QUARTERS The destroyer has long been known as the Work-horse of the fleet. But more recently the helicopter has become indispensible in naval operations - a work-horse by any standard. LITTLE ROCK's helo is a familiar sight around the Mediterranean as it transfers personnel, freight, and mail. Each flight of the helo is 'preceded by a thorough check of all equipment on the aircraft. The call to flight quarters brings those men designated to prepare the helo and to stand by as a Crash Party. The Green Deck from the Bridge sends the helo on another mission.
