NAVIGATION DIVISION The Navigation Department is made up of a highly trained team of Quartermasters under the direct supervision of the Navigator. Their jobg helping the Captain, Navigator and Officer of the Deck keep the ship in safe waters and making sure she's in the right place at the right time, Our Quartermasters steer the ship, keep the logs, make weather observations, maintain the ship's clock, keep the bridge smart, and take and plot the ship's positions. f LCDR T. 170 LT W. H. OSBURN , . WW. ,mf ADMINI TRATIVE DEPARTMENT The Executive Department may be described as the Administrative right arm of the Commanding Officer. Headed by the Executive Officer, twelve different groups, each providing a different service, make up this department. The Personnel Office, Captain's Office, Career Coun- selor, Education and Training Officer, Chaplain, and Legal Office all have a part toward having the necessary numbers and specialties of officers and men assigned, properly trained, properly informed of career opportunities, and provided with adequate moral and legal coun- sel. The Masters at Arms police the ship, insuring that regulations are adhered to and assisting in maintaining ship security. The Print Shop, Photo Lab, and Post Office provide their services to the ship and staff, while the Public Affairs Office assists in coordinating relations between the ship and the civilian population. Finally, the Maintenance Data Collection System Office coordinates a complex data collection system on the ship, making sure necessary reports aresubmitted and that maintenance records are up to date.
