Teaching, counseling, research, writing — these indicate the endeavors of the Department of History and Political Science. Over the years the department has prided itself on its effective teaching program, especially through some of the innovative approaches to teaching introduced by Dr. Norman Trevathan. Along with the normal teaching requirements, several books, articles, and papers have been produced by the faculty. Dr. James McDonough has two published books to his credit with two others pending. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly. Dr. Robert Hooper’s bi- ography of David Lipscomb, Crying in the Wilderness, is scheduled for publication late in 1979. With the addition of Mr. Craig Bledsoe to the political science staff, the depart- ment has access for the first time to the computer for teaching Robert Hooper, Chairman purposes. a a ts 2 HISTORY POLITICAL “‘cbsouitr pnernce vane ea SCIENCE DEPARTMENT FACULTY
