Queen Rachel Reigns Uuer Homecoming The powerful card defense brings down an Exeter Monarch. Becky Devine rides a head. Happy vibrations filled the air as Homecoming week started in full swing. The coronation, which took place on Monday, enabled 1971's Queen Rachel Garcia to reign over the week's activities. The court consisted of Jayne Brown, Nancy Maynard, Patti Ford, and Cathy Pelous. The Queen's coronation, staged by the junior class. was an ele- gant affair. The gym was dark- ened, and spotlights mirrored each girl,s expression. Class participation was at its peak during Homecoming with each class winning something in the way of contests. Senior girls were really on the ball with their toothpicks and lifesavers as they won hands down. Jeff McCom- ber, representing the frosh class, came out on top as the soaking wet winner of the apple dunking contest. Showing their dislike of mud at the tug-of-war, the jun- iors made sure it was the other classes that went for a dive. 16 Homecoming 4,1 1 5142 951 ' l fr l 5 Senior girls, competitors of fashion. fValerie Brazil, Jackie Irion, Linda Barker, Linda Bonett, Linda Newmanb

All this led up to our crushing defeat over Exeter with the score 17-12, bringing our league record to 9-0, and our spirit to an all time high. After the game, everyone gather- ed at the Memorial Building to dance to the sounds of Me- dusah and to celebrate the whole, crazy, wonderful, win- ning, week.
