I' I S 9 and 0 7 9 9 L Cl L 6 JIM SWAN Girls just before registration at Student Building on Davis Campus Every year two outstanding students are chosen to represent our school at the annual Girls' and Boys' State Conference. 405 girls went to the 15th annual Girls' State Session, which was held on the State University Cam- pus at Davis. The session began on June 23 and ended on July 1. DELSIE CANEPA 826 Boys attended the Boys' State Session, which was held on the State Fair grounds in Sacramento their session began on June 21 and ended on June 28. The main purpose for this conference is to teach interested students about their State Government. The girls were divided into two different political parties the TORIES and the WHIGS. The boys were also divided into two different groups. The delegates form their own platform, and all elections are conduct- ed in the manner required by the State Election Code.

STUDENT STORE Linden, does not have a cafeteria, so we have the next best thing, our Student Store, A Student Store manager is elected by the student body - her duty is to see to all the buying, selling and bookkeeping of the store. She must carefully check all the merchandise sold through the SIOIC. Students volunteer their time--to work in the store as sales people. They learn to take orders and give change. The Student Store's purpose is to sell goods to students during lunch. SHARON MERIAN Student Store, Manager 3

Girls ' Leadership Con erenfre Each year several junior girls are chosen to represent Linden at the YMCA sponsored Girls' Leadership Conference at Asilo- mar. Last year eight girls were chosen to attend the 1958 con- ference, They were Sandy Mc- Donald, Helen Ueyama, Carla Raggio, Delsie Canepa, Diana Simmons, Jean Peralta, Susie Whitehead, and Lorraine Gen- etti. Sandy was nominated by them to run for Vice President, and after two days' of hard campaigning, Sandy was elect- ed, This year the eight senior girls will return to Asilomar for two days of business and pleas- ure as part of the 1959 Execu- tive Committee, This year's conference will also be attended by the following junior girls: Sue Tucker, Donna Arrigone, Starr Martini, Lois Boggiano, Janet Ferrari, Janice DeBene- detti, and Lyn Freeman.
