In order to develop the student's interest in better music, every- one taking a general course is required to take one year of this subject. Besides learning its fundamentals, scales, and his- tory, the pupils are taught to identify various instruments by listening to recordings of them. Once a week, as a part of their regular classwork, they enjoy singing semi-classical and pop- ular songs. The department is headed by Mrs. Rosenthal. uftic fbepaalmenl Page 27

Page 26 Hal' lbepaaimeni The study of art is required of all Lindhlom students following the general course because the adnlinistration feels it will add to the student's general interest in the flner things in life. Our art department, under Mr. Schmidt, has supervised lllillly' students in the past, leaching them the fundamentals of draw- ing and many times bringing out hidden talents.

Qidldf ' Gym fbepcmllmenl' Seeking to add to LlllillJlOIll'S academic program, the girls' gym classes offer complete physical education. Each autumn the girls perform on the apparatus while in the spring they take proficiency tests. Recreation in athletics is stressed and volley ball, basketball, and baseball are played.
