PRINCIPALXS MESSAGE A four-year period is a long time when it lies before you but a very short one when you review the course of events four years later. The February class of l939 no doubt looks back and Won- ders how the time could have passed so rapidly. Only yesterday you Were shy, timid freshmen with the high school course before you. All the fine times you have had, all the growth you have made should have been in the direction of better living. All have not made high records as far as school subjects are concerned, but each one in this class should be a better citizen because of the four years spent at Lindblom. Classes come and go but each class is the best and each year book the outstanding one. It is well that prin- cipals and teachers feel that Way about it. The joy of teaching comes in find- ing each group of young people differ- ent from all others. If We tell you that you are the best yet, please do not misunderstand us. As a class you have helped main- tain the high traditions of Lindblom. May you go out into life upholding these high standards and carrying out many of the fine suggestions that have been made to you during the past four years. Lindblom looks forward to the time when it will proudly say, That young man or young Woman was a member of a graduating class at Lindblom High School. I

INVEST IN YCDURSELF The members of the Senior Class of February l939 will soon be departing from Lindblom to face new problems and new opportunities. One problem which already may have demanded some attention and which will become increasingly important with the pass- ing years is that of investment. On this age-old subject our graduates would do well to harken to the counsel of a great teacher, adversity, who for the past decade has been among us constantly trying to impart wisdom. Invest in yourself, says this teacher. Invest in the resources of the mind and the skill of the hands and your capital will survive unim- paired. Invest your money in an edu- cation. Spend it for culture. Buy knowl- edge and hope for wisdom. Acquire good books, study them carefully and make friends among the great minds of the world. Attend exhibitions and concerts, know science and develop a taste for the fine arts. Travel, study man and the institutions he has built throughout the ages. Money invested in a bond or stock may bring a few dollars yearly, but the same sum in- vested in acquiring knowledge or skill will bring immeasurable profit and pleasure as long as you live. An in- vestment in yourself is in a business you can always watch and control. Booms cannot inflate it and depres- sions cannot destroy it. Friends can- not borrow it, thieves cannot steal it. For centuries the wise have heeded these instructions and profited. May you be numbered among the wise. Warren
