Filxl EVENING Cl' Qt5bTllXlf'lCY Seniors Gain Victory In Donkey B-ball 1979 marked the return of Donkey Basketball to Lindbergh High School. On March 23rd, parents and students filled Gym Ill to cheer on their favor- ite teams. Freshmen and sophomores battled for two action-filled periods for the underclassmen championship. The freshmen emerged victorious and advanced to the finals. The second game matched enthusiastic juniors against a mighty senior team. A tie score took the game into over- time with the seniors winning on some question- able plays. In the final game, the seniors beat the freshmen by only a few points. The best part of Donkey Basketball, however, was watching the players trying to stay on those stub- born animals. The animals were very difficult to ride, but players found it even harder to get back on. Senior Steve Foppe made an unusual play from the sidelines which proved to be the winning basket for his team. Seniors yelled and cheered to show their support and excitement. Students exhibited their class spirit and enjoyed the com- edy of the game throughout the evening. 1. Struggling riders find out that getting on the don- keys is a breeze: staying on is the real trial! 2. Brian Will clutches to the ball as an obstinate donkey struggles to prevent him from scoring. 3. Jean Bornholdt and Cheri Correll show their sen- ior spirit as they cheer their team on to victory. 4. With little help from their stubborn assistants, players work to rack up points for their teams.
