'5lXlCDWl' Llillillb Decorations Depict Dance Theme White flakes, glistening on the ground, appropriately enhanced the mood of the evening for couples attending the 1979 Snow Queen Dance. Surrounded by sparkling silver stars and a back drop glittered with snow-covered mountains, Bob Kuban's Brass sere- naded couples with slow, romantic songs, as well as the disco beat. Mean- while, more decorations, doves flying overhead, murals depicting silhouettes and a multi-colored rainbow, conveyed the dance theme, A Time for Us. While some couples danced, others took a break to try the refreshments, punch and dessert, served by the dance hosts and hostesses, Student Council members. At 9:45, all activities closed as couples and parents crowded into Gym Ill. As lights faded and tension grew, Student Council officers Chris Dahl and Dianna Jungman presided over the coronation. The final candi- date was escorted to the stage, and a hush came over the audience. The si- lence, however, was quickly broken by applause and wild cheers as Sharon Di- giovanni was crowned 1979 Snow Queen.

pggrflb K Hangar And Pass Dances Provide Informal Fun Crowds of jean-clad people moved to the pulsating beat of the song penetrating the Com- mons. Popular bands rhythmi- cally filled the Friday night air at the Pass Dance and four Hangar Dances. Honoring fall athletes and fans who purchased season sports passes, Student Council spon- sored the Pass Dance on Fri- day, September 15 to kickoff the 1978-79 school activities. For 51.50 a night, Students danced from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Hangars on October 6, December 1, Febru- ary 24, and April 27. These Stu- dent Council-sponsored dances featured the music of Effec, Topaz, and a disco simu- lation. At each evenings close. as the final sounds of music filled the air, students piled into cars headed for favorite fast food restaurants. Green and gold jackets swarmed into McDon- ald's, Pizza Hut, Rumas, Pizza Inn, and Happy Joe's to quench thirsts, satisfy appetites, and socialize before heading home. 1. The first Hangar Dance gives Blake Hooper and Ken Mueller the chance to perfect their dancing. 2. Jody Marx, Jill Rogers, Scott Reinhardt, Martin Balasus, Stephanie Swallow. and George Morgan find the floor offers the only available seats as the band takes its break on October 6. 3. The informal atmosphere at Hangar Dances makes them popular Friday night activities. 4. Concord Village Pizza Hut provides a favorite gathering place for dancers suffering from post-Hangar hunger. 5. Debbie Held and Midge Heimos bump to the beat of Effec at the Pass Dance. Wes.
