.WJ M XM IN THE HCT l 1978 Variety Show Creates Student Stardom Backstage, Raggedy Ann put fin- ishing touches on her rosy cheeks. A Macho Man admired a final flex in the mirror, and cow- boys from the Wild West polished guns and clicked spurs. A troupe of Egyptians made their way through the human maze toward the stage. Finally, house lights went down and last minute preparations ceased as weeks of dedicating and often exhausting rehearsals centered around this one perfor- mance. The curtain rose and the audi- ence discovered Who's Who. Grease was the word for sever- al LHS acts revolving around the r I 15 M. popular movie theme. Noteable figures represented included EI- vis, Babe Ruth, Doris Day, and Herbert Hoover. During intermis- sion, the audience viewed baby pictures to determine who was who among faculty members. Student talent was combined with direction from sponsors Mr, John Weiss and Mrs. Debra Peppers. Student Directors Mike Heimos, Larry O'Neal, and Sue Walsh helped organize the 300-member cast, the largest in LHS history. Mrs. Peppers, pleased with all three performances, November 2, 3, and 4 said, This year was our biggest success. . A 1.
