Spirits Soar With Homecoming Victory October sun shone on hundreds of Flyer and Pio- neer fans who filled the stands to see Lindbergh bat- tle Kirkwood. This was more than an ordinary foot- ball gameg it was October 22, 1977, Homecoming. At halftime, the Sym- phonic Band accompanied the Pom-pon girls who per- formed a military drill. Lack of student interest in constructing floats resulted in a parade of only cars and a broken school tradition. Clubs decorated cars to the Homecoming theme, Red Sails In The Sunset . Spirit Maids were then introduced to the crowds. Bursting through the Pep Club hoop, the football team ended halftime. The Lindbergh spirits and score soared as the Flyers over- whelmed the Pioneers, 34-O. Right: Varsity lettermen escort Spirit Maids at halftime.

F-1 5 'gr iff 1-x High school is more than sitting in a class room. lt is the memory of' the Hangar Dance where you met that girl you had been watching in the hall every morning. It is taking three weeks to gain enough courage to ask that senior boy' to the Turna- bout Dance. High school is when you, a he-man athlete, donned a la- cey frock and mockingly' sang a so- prano part in the Variety Show. Spending hours in front ofthe mir- ror, practicing lines for the school play is also high school. During these four years. we travel academic roads everyday. Deca- sionally, we take a few moments for such laughs, tears, embarrassment. sacrifice, and rewards. The paths of pleasure intersect with the roads of learning. These times, these places. are often turning points in our lives. intersections along the two courses we are traveling. These are the Crossroads of our high school lives.
