Peer pressure has become more impor- tant now while parental pressure was the ruler yesterday. The well-dressed girl of the early fifties wore cashmere sweaters, mid- calf length skirts, bobby socks, and saddle oxfords. Her boyfriend was proud to wear his letter sweater and straight-legged pants. Crew cuts were the only socially accepted hair styles for boys. An anything goes attitude of dress has become domi- nant. Rules for hair and skirt lengths have virtually disappeared. In the early years here, football and baseball were scheduled during the same season. In order to have enough players, some students had to par- ticipate in both sports. Events were often delayed as some athletes had to finish one game before going to the other sporting contest. The list of activities, including dances at LHS, has grown. In the early fifties, students jitter-bugged to the tunes of Bill Haley's Comets while How Much Is That Doggie In The Window? was the number- one song. In 1978. people bumped and boogied to the beats of KISS. Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO and other 7 Below left to right: Nair. Lunte. Mr. Haeger, and Nlr. Iaworski are still here to help celebrate the high schools anniversary 36 groups. Lindbergh High School has grown from a rural school twhere teachers reportedly went hunting in adjoining woods during lunchl to one of the largest metropolitan high schools in the state. The courses and clubs have increased as a greater number of students gained new in- terests and insights. A school is more than a building: it is the peo- ple and happenings within the build- ing's walls. While the people have changed through the years. so has the institution we call our school. May Lindbergh High School con- tinue to adapt to its people and trav- el up this same road to more success in the future.
