Director of Physical Education Class Advisor To the Class of 1949: It would be easy to fall into a sentimental vein in expressing a word of parting to you and hard to put into words the feeling that saying goodbye to a group of men with whom one has lived and worked for four years always brings. Nevertheless, I want you to know that the experience of watching you develop from your freshman uncertainty, watching some of you make the difficult transition from military to civilian life, winning and losing with some of you on the athletic fields, and finally sponsoring you as a group of confident, responsible men, has been a pleasure and one of those intangible compensations which come to the teacher and coach. As you part from us it is my hope that you have learned to win gracefully or lose with spirit undefeated, in life as we have done so often here together.
