The Lynx played an exciting brand of football as they were able to give some of the, league's toughest teams a real battle, losing 14-7 to Roosevelt, 22-16 to Shoreline, and 24-7 to Nathan Hale. Perhaps the hardest defeat to take was their 14-12 loss to Rainier Beach, which wasn't decided until the last play of the game. But the season was not without bright spots as Lincoln defeated a strong Cleveland team, 31-7, and squeaked past Shorecrest, 6-0, in the mud at Shoreline Stadium. Individual standouts were Denis Monica, team captain, Seattle TIMES A11-Metro team Linebacker. Dave Woodhouse was named second-team center on the Seattle P-I's All-Metro team. Jim Ferry, who led the league in kickoff return yardage, and scored seven touchdowns, was named the team's Most Valuable Player and Willie Beasley, a hard-running fullback. was elected the team's Most Inspirational Player. The jayvees, composed of players who saw limited action in varsity games, enjoyed their first winning season in many years with a 3-2 record. All of their victories came at home as they defeated Nathan Hale, Shoreline, and Ballard. The third team had a different kind of season, losing each of their seven games. The team didn't even have a full-time coach until two games had been played, but the many talented freshmen on the team will be back next year to improve their record. J. Bendewald, D. Bjelke, B. Cheadle, D. Decaro, P. Jeffrey, K. James, D. Ladd, W. Patton, W. McDaniels. AR ITY CROW COUNTRY The 1972 Lincoln cross-country squad finished in fine fashion in the always-competitive Metro League. The harriers placed fourthin the northern division, behind Nathan Hale, Shoreline, and Ingraham, and were fifth in overall league standings. The Lynx were paced this year by juniors George Frick and Tim Dupont, and also contributing to the all-out team effort were seniors, Brian Horman, Gary Hocking, and Gary Albright. Varsity letters were also awarded to Gillis Heller, George Anderson, Kurt Smith, and Don Horman. The team also awarded varsity letters to head manager, Tom Smith, who was unable to run because of eligibility problems, and time-keepers, Heather Machaness and Linda Sheeley. At the annual cross-country banquet, team members voted Brian Horman in as this year's most inspirational runner and also voted Brian and Gary Hocking as the squads co-captains for the '72 season. Junior harrier George Frick was the lone Lincoln runner to compete in state competition. Seniors proved to Lincoln that they had the biggest heart whlile helping Neighbors in Need with effort in the canned food drive, bringing in 1,326 cans. Seniors went all out in making Tri-F Day a success by portraying students from the Class of '55. The Greasers', never looked better! Seniors helped celebrate T-Day with spirit this year by honoring their own Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln. 'The coming of Senior Week made seniors realize that their year was soon to end. With this thought seniors made their week enjkmyable. The climax of the Seniors' year began with the cruise on the Si tseer followed by a dinner and dance. The Prom, held at the Nile Country Club, was enjoyed by all. Commencement brings the year to a close, and with it, the seniors stop to reflect on all that thdy have done this past yearg a year to remember. 4 r 120 Seniors Senior Cabinet discuss plans for upcoming activities Joan Biggs President I I 1 fl f vs? jj 'IP ,Q Mr. Parker Tim Hingtgen Advisor Vice President COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN SENIOR WEEK Renae Green Debbie Skeslien FUND RAISING: Bev Noyes PROM: Pam Gillespie Bonnie Watson SENIOR CRUISE: Judi Johanson Jo Beste Gary Hocking David Sato ' Secretary-Treasurer Senior Representative SSHIOI RCPTCSCHUIIVC Seniors 121 A X LUISA AGRECADO 'GAR Y ALBRICHT GUS ARAMBURU CHUCK A USTIN TOTEM ANNUAL NYell Leader Cross Country INT - Skiing LUCY AGUSTIN Girls Club Girls Choir INT - Singing Church CHER YL ALEXANDER Track INT - Camping Horseback riding Cycle riding DEBI ARMSTRONG JACK AUSTIN MICHAEL AHOLA ELMER ANDERSON MARIAN ARNOLD Nonettes Fiddler on the roof INT - Church GOALS - Music teache I DEBRA BA CH DIA NA AIRE Y Nonettes Orchestra INT - Tennis GOALS - Music Educ.
