HE anniversary ofthe founding of Rome, Italy, April 21,
appropriately marked the date for the 1967 Junior Prom.
aptly entitled "Arrivederci, Roma".
This theme was accentuated by large scale decorations,
including a massive Coliseum, a sunken flower garden, and
hanging flower baskets. The decor was intended to give Prom-
goers a romantic glimpse into the atmosphere of ancient Rome,
Traditionally, Prom King Rick Bjorklund escorted Queen
Sue Spindler past the numerous fountains and murals, as the
couple headed their fellow classmates in the Grand March. Lat-
er in the evening freshman girls, dressed in Roman slave tunics
accented by gold sandals and floral head wreaths, served re-
freshments from Roman market carts to the many guests.
The Prom itself was given in honor of the senior class and
executed through the junior class, prom committees, commit-
tee chairmen, and General Chairman Cece Simon. The music
was provided bv the Gail Shepardson Band from Green Bay,
Unlike past years, Post-Prom, under the direction of'the
Manitowoc Jaycees, was held on the balcony of the physical
education unit instead of at the County Armory and Exposition
Center. Couples attended Post-Prom in less formal attire. where
they were served refreshments and danced to music provided
by a popular teenage band.
