The senior band, with an average membership of forty, maintains a balanced instrumenta- tion by means of the junior band. As soon as a junior band member has demonstrated aptitude for instrumental music and received a good foundation on his instrument, he is promoted to the senior band. The senior band offers its members a unique opportunity to develop their talent through free instruction and free use of school owned instruments. A point system provides the basis for earning a band letter. This letter, which bears a stripe for each year the required number of points has been earned, is presented in the senior year. Prepartion for and participation in the State Contest for Class C Concert Bands provides excellent training and experience as well as stimulus for hard work. A very favorable demonstra- tion was made by the band at the District Contest held at Proctor in 1939. The band always supplies much pep and entertainment at the home basketball games and at the tournament. A few of the other engagements filled by the band during the past two years were: Carlton and Thomson Fairs, Farmers' Club Banquet and the Annual Band-Glee Club Spring Concert at the Lincoln School. The band is directed by Mr. Rudolph Hauge.
