Future Farmer Basketball 1939-40 was a husy season for the F.F.A. basketball team, which was managed by Lauri Kortesmalci and coached by Les Knuti. In February they sponsored the District Eight F. F. A. tournament at Eslco. In the State F.F.A. tournament held at Minneapolis, they reached the quar- ter finals. The team played six games for Finnish Benefit. The outstanding game was that played against the Mur- phy Finance Team at the Duluth Armory on All Sports Night. l twenty-three

The 4-H's on our emblem, the clover leaf, stand for Head, Heart, Hand and Health. HEAD -- for .clearer thinking. HEART - for greater loyalty. HAND - for larger service. HEALTH - for better living. With a combined membership of one hundred ten, the junior and senior 4-H Clubs have taken an active part in school and community life. Ar Christmas the club distributed baskets to the needy, in February it sponsored an annual basket and bunco social, and in April presented :1 variety program. The organization also entered the 4-H play contest which was held at Cromwell. In the preceding year several members attended the State Fair and brought honors to the club. Edward Maki, Clifford Johnson and John Johnson attended as a judging team, while Hulda: Tan, Helmi Kivisto and Alice Sampson represented the sewing club with a demonstration. Helen Tan entered the cake baking contest. Ar the Activities Banquet senior members with the required number of points will be pre- sented emblems for their achievements. The officers of the senior club are: president, Ainie Maki, vice-president, Hulda Tang sec- retary, Mildred Nelson, treasurer, Genelle Huffmang and reporter, Velmi Maki. The executive council consists of the senior officers, general chairmen of the committees, junior leaders, a representative of the junior club and the adult leaders.
