'lihe executive council. consisting of the ofhcers of the senior club. general chairmen of standing committees. junior leaders. a junior club representative and adult leaders. directs the club program. A well clevelf oped program is formulated by this group. 'lihe club sponsors an annual basket social and bunco party and takes part in the County Achievement Day. ln l97r7 the club entered the county one-act play contest. winning first place. Mr. Esko directed a vocal group who also won first place and consequently took part in the district contest at Grand Rapids. lt is customary at the Activities Banquet to present the members of the senior class. who have secured the necessary number of points. with emblems significant ol' their achievements. The officers of the senior club are: president. Sylvia Kesti: vicef president. Verna Vvlare: secretary. Roselle Juntunen: treasurer. Clarence Carlson: sergeantssat-arms. Having as its chief aim the development of character, competent leadership, and citizenship. the Future Farmers sponsored or partici- pated in the following activities during the past year: improved farm practices on home farms: the completion of an agricultural project for each farm: FFA. basketball teams: track and kittenball teams: educa- tional booths at local and county fairs: display of crops and livestock at the local fair: participation in Northeast Experiment Station and Tri-State l.ivestock Judging contest in Duluth. and in the Carlton County Potato Judging contest. winning honors in both contests: two entries in the Duluth Chamber of Commerce FPA. contest: state invitational basketball tournament: F.F.A. farm practice tour: home beautincation contest: nature study group: safety program: weed eradi- cation: rodent eradication: leadership group: outing at Lake Minne- wawa: and the F.F.A.-G.A.A. skating party.
