R65 ,ROOVVYS No, Ioe, I suppose that if you came to Lincoln at 8:241f2 AM. some bright morning, the old school wouldn't look much different. There's still the last minute dash to reg room, where the teachers, as perplexed as ever, count noses and try to keep track of your wanderings through the day. There's still the twenty-deep morn- ing lineup in the office for admittance slips: the same old filling out of registration forms and programs in triplicate. Yes, Joe, Lincoln in the reg rooms would look just about the same as ever. G? e I Enigma of the year: which is the decoration? Hard times have come again. With an enviable pre-season record tuclced under their belts, the Cardinals entered the Portland lnterscholastic League play deemed to talce Lincoln out of the football lethargy into which it had fallen during the past few years. But no sooner had the Cardinal hopes reached their brightest point than they immediately tool: a turn for the worst. Riddled by injuries to the point where they were shy a couple of regulars each game, the Cards met successive defeats at the hands of Roosevelt and Commerce. ln their next game, the Railsplitters battled the highly touted Benson Mechanics to a scoreless standstill. With their hopes buoyed by their scoreless standstill with Benson, the Cards met the Jefferson eleven confident of a victory, but were turned baclc by the Democrats 13 to 0. After this, the Redbirds lost their last remaining three .games to Franlclin, Grant, and Washington. ii.
