Neil Newlon: The Greening Of An Actor Hiding behind the whiskers and costume of a mid-19th century American is none oth- er than Neil Newlon, associate professor of theater. He donned the duds for a brief appearance in the TV mini-series, The Chisholms , which aired in March on CBS. Newlon por- trayed the judge of a greased pig contest at a Fourth of july picnic. It was not the first television role for the professor, migrant labor camp manager, playwright, Greenwich Village bartender, and frustrated auto restorer. A year earlier, Newlon had a small stint in The Awakening Land, which like The Chisholms, was filmed at New Salem State Park about 35 miles southwest of the cam- pus . xf n . ks-,af Reacting with leading man Bob Preston . . . . . . and posing with his transportation.

, . , .sol fLORlD9 The Audio- Visual Team One of the more visible group of people throughout the school year was the audio-visual team, led by Susan Thomas and Mary Taylor. They taped basketball games for showing on the lo- cal cable channel, and also took to the outdoors to re- cord the doings of the base- ball and soccer teams. The AV team also coordi- nated the use of slide pro- jectors, TV monitors and numerous other audio-visual aids by faculty and staff. Where would the college be Without them? X

Coffee Hour If most of the campus seemed relatively deserted this year at 10 a.m. each Thurs- day, it was because many people were drop- ping by the student center for the weekly coffee hour. On this particular day, Renata Harrell dispensed the coffee, Delire Gunn pored over her class notes, Kim Kempert relaxed with friends , and Linda Buchanan, Mary Hunter and Val Jordan shared a juicy con- versational tidbit. .. ff ml.
