Coach John Ryman's boys posted an overall season's record of 8 wins and 8 losses, but Ryman had his hands full keeping track of the many squad member losses. In spite of a great height disadvantage through- out the year, the Lynx presented a 5-3 conference record as well as a 7-3 record against junior col- lege teams. Rymanis consolation for his grey hairs was the winning of the Richard K. Goodman travel- ling trophy and a second place standing in the Illinois-Missouri conference. Wild Q HARTS I-IALL...GIRL DORMITORY Jeff in mernoriarn Thi.s year on December 3rd the students and fac- ulty of Lincoln College lost one of their best friends, Dean Richard P. Pooley. Mr. Pooley had been ill for over a year and had been on leave of absence receiving treatment at Hines Veterans Hospital and Deaconess Hospital. Space prevents listing except in part the magnificent contributions made to the life of Lincoln College by Dean Pooley during his brief period on this campu.s. His outstanding characteristic, possibly to those who knew him best was his ajllrniative Christian philosophy, touching all his activities and relationships with students, his col- leagues on the faculty and friends in the com- munity. His olfcial capacity was Librarian and Dean of the college. Under his direction the present general education course was largely developed, the present re-modeled library was devised, and the increased personnel services to the students were brought into being. Ever since his leaving active campus life last December, a great vacancy has been felt on the part of stu- dents and faculty alike. ' Mrs. Pooley has been continuing the work of the Library for the balance of the year. Next year she will be on leave of ab- sence for graduate study in Library Science at the University of Michigan. She-and her son, Sam, will be welcomed back in September, 1952. ' e 1: ' ' Q v ,- 5 rf L 1 I -, :fi-5 Q . if-s Q A N 00' F EGE LIBRAH LINCOLN, ILLINOIS. f ,i,wQ
