You have demonstrated to me that you have the enthusiasm, the willingness to work, and the ambition so essential in any successful endeavor. The future is in good hands if all young people today can embark on a venture of faith and carry it through to a successful conclusion such as you have done. 6 1 A. ---nw' :- ZZ . . 3.3-, el 1. odhlf' A. f 'I , -.jx-:3:g.g.-13232-5, 'agglg' 1 f .-.pzlfcl-71,5-15-'-21'-4-.'?'L+g -3 , .sys:-1,1g:1:,15.,'Q2f'Z-13-rl:-rr. -1?-GMS'-'F'1:f-1 I-Fil'-J-Q-br ,i ff:--ia-:'f'-22' 'M Jf . . . . . Watchout for us next year. This year our class has been active in sports of all kinds. We have a girl on the Varsity squad and a number of athletes on the J. V. Teams. There are many young up and coming athletes going out for track, basketball and softball. This yearlsincoln started a new band with the Freshman answering the call lu. lmvizng agreatmanystudents going outforit. The hands of the doctor bring newly born babies into the world, while the hands of the murderer take the lives of their victims. The hardworking hands of men save money for future emergencies, and the wicked hands of the burglar steal the money which they use for illegal and unneeded purposes. The unsteady hands of drundards try to drive automobiles which bring distruction to vehicles driven by the hands of the good. The stenographer's hands work the typewriters and adding machines of the world's offices. Com - munication is made possible by the telephone and telegraph operator's hands: While the hands of truck - drivers. aviators, taxicab drivers and engineers bring about transportation. The hands of the mill and factory workers tum out the world's goods. The farmer's hands raise the food and the baker's hands pre - pare the food for the table. The hands of the blind see for their masters: the deft hands of the musician and artist bring beauty to the worldg while the hands of the magician dumbfound people with miraculous tricks. The world's men salute the flag of their country with their hands, and the handshake shows friendship toward another. The hands of the priest bless his congregation. and support them. A large and rather somber room with large windows on two sides. The first thing you notice is a large desk which, being on an elevated platform half a foot from the floor, dominates the room. It looks rather impressive, flanked as it is by two great windows on either side, with an honor roll of Alumni who served in the Second World War, above it. The list is large and we are mighty proud that the boys from our halls did their part in defending our country in time of distress. On the platform the Principal 's desk: for such it is, is backed by eight chairs , four to a side. This is where the faculty sits during assemblies. On either side of the windows, off the platform, are bookcases crammed with old and musty textbooks, long untouched. Beside the one on the left, facing the platform there is a glass case in which some of the many trophies Lincoln Academy has won over the years are placed to give proof that we are worthy of our proud tradition in sports. Beside this case stands a battered piano, on which and around which so many songs have been played and sung . Tuming about, we see the many rows of desks, well scarred and decorated with mementos of years before. Ah, if only these could speak what glorious and hilarious tales of yesterday they might recount! The left wall is occupied by a blackboard, which mns to the rear as far as the library, an alcove of books with chairs and a table in the comer. Above the board are several imposing, yet rather amus - ing, portraits of former headmasters. Our own principal, Mr. Bailey, occupies a place over one of the bookcases in the library corner. The room has a nostalgic air that makes you wish you were a student a - gain. So soon have you forgotten the 'honors' of high school. WHAT WOULD YOU DO? I dislike to hear people who cheerfully say My! Isn't this a lovely day? When I've just made zero in every class, And my quarter exams are coming fast. But after all, what would you do If all things sparkled with silvery hue, And some kind friend would say to you, Have you ever seen a day so blue? Again I ask.
