Class Prophecy- While attending the 1967 spring opening of Cooper and Cobb's Circus last week in Los Angeles, I saw many of my old friends. John Hoshaw who is quite the guy when it comes to insulation, has improved the canvas of the big tent so much that the circus is now giving shows in Alaska. Jim Freed, known as Chubba Bubba, the baby elephant, now owns twenty wee elephants. His trainers are Dale Sprunger and Adrian Bobeck. Terry Bickel, the circus muscle man, is very busy helping Jerry Lee and Eddy Dull develop their bi- ceps by using the Bickel Body Builder tonic. Vesta Dunlap, owner of the flea circusg Bob Hicks, the snake charmer, and Bill Hire who owns the two -headed ant are now the leading attractions in the side show. Linda Lou Johnson, owner and manager of the circus mortuary, says that business is rather distrubing since Marilyn Harper, Nancy Reed, and Janet Orewiler have taken over the animal hospital. Marilyn is noted for her care of Vesta's trained fleas. Maxine Richard, society editor for the LDS ANGELES TRIBUNE, reported that Mary Grooms, the circus fat lady, has also taken a prominent position in society since she received a huge inheritance from a long lost relative. Barton Black, the lion tamer, has just received a shipment of lions from Leland and Leonard Miller who are now working in Africa. The circus also had many outstanding people in the audience. Brenda Bontrager, the Metropolitan Opera star, stopped by on her way to New York where she is starring in MADAME BUTTERFLY. She will be accompanied by Miriam Targgart, the concert pianist, who just Enished her debut in Camegie Hall. Harold Patrick is their business manager. Cal Schlemmer, the famous scientist and farmer, has just discovered a new drug that will make him- self fearless of women. Neil Griffith, the famed Chicago banker, has just announced to the public that he is the first man to ever own over ICD trillion dollars. Pauline Holm Staton and Marge Hover Durham are now honey-mooning in Palm Springs. Pat Cassidy, a New York model, has just signed a contract at the Sprague and Staton Studios in Hol- lywood for the next two years. Marilyn Nichols, her advisor, said in her recent press conference that Pat intends to win an Oscar during her time spent there. Harry Castetter and Howard Moser, the millionaire playboys from Las Vegas, have discovered a method for jinxing the gambling machines. Estella Hutchings and Frances Mabie, co-owners of the Frantella Beauty Salon are noted for their unique way of dressing the lion's hair. A Charla Chatfield and Dixie Reid, the circus police-women, are standing at the tent entrance, armed to the teeth, waiting for some disturbance. Connie Cripe, swinging high on the flying trapeze, was the final performer of the show. Having seen and talked with many of my former school friends, I made my way toward the main exit of the tent leaving die circus for another year. 23
