This school year has been one of profit Kwe hope? and pleasure Cof course, Our faculty in cluded four new high school tea chers Mr Fowler, superintend ent, Mrs Fowler, Miss Adams, and Mr Parker Sith us again were Mrs Braig, Miss King, and Mr Balo We played our first football game with Hartford on September 25 We had a moderately success ful season which was climaxed by the Homecoming Game on November 4 Etna won, but Queen Martha Parkinson looked pretty enough to banish the gloom of that cold, rainy day Her attendants were Jean Cotterman, Mary Jo Hoskin son, and Patty Rockey Evan Smith was high point man for the season and we were very proud of Ralph Moore, who won a spot on the All County first team Other events of October were the seniors' trip to Columbus for picture takin , a successful magazine drive Sue Bailey was high salesman for the campaignj, and the Halloween Carnival Queen Patricia Morton reigned over this gala evening, attended by Jane Pound, Carol Brown, and Janice Davis The 4 H Clubs,Community Club, and F F A have all been very active this year. The Com unity Club sponsored many dances and raffles to purchase the new band uniforms which constituted their chief project for the year. The F.F.A. elected Ralph Moore pres ident and held a pest hunt,wh1ch Eugene Collins won with 2990 points. Last summer, Jacktown's cattle judging team rated eighth in 253 entries from all over the state. The junior play,"'1'he Campbells Are Coming," was well presented on November 18. It was directed by Miss King and Mr. Parker. The basketball season ended with our second game in the tournament, which we lost to He- bron. The cheerleaders this year were Irene Seymour, Anna Lou Brown, Martha Parkinson, and Bette Hoskinson, who looked very charming in their new red and gray uniforms The girls in the upper six grades participated in a program of intramural basketball They also invited girls from neigh boring schools for afternoon games Editor Lillian Gorley pub lished a very good BULLETIN every three weeks with the as sistance of Mrs Braig as advis In the latter part of the year, it was published in news paper form rather than as a mag azine The music department was ac tive with the band playing at games and pep meetings, and mem bers of the chorus attending state, district, and county cho ruses Donna Jean Ice, Irene Seymour, Leroy Hoskinson, and Keith Thogmartin went to Wilm ington in March to participate in the State Chorus Other mem bers of the chorus attended dis trict and county choruses Mary Jo Hoskinson and Glen Vince were new members on the County Student Council Pat Mor ton was a member again, and also our representative onn the Lick gana staff New members elected to the Honor Society were seniors Lil lian Gorley and Irene Morgan, and junior Roy McK1bben. Senior mem- bers elected last year were Glen Wlnce, Donna Jean Ice, and Pat Morton. We were very proud that Glen was elected president oSf this group. The 21 seniors concluded thdr last year at Jacksontown, guided by President Glen Wince and Mr. Balo, as advisor, in the tradi- tional manner. The senlor play, "I Know Your Secret? was present- ed on May 5,and the Junior Smnor Banquet, Senior Week, Baccalaur eate Sunday, and Com encement night formally ended their high school career. A lot of hard work and many plans were under way during the year to finance the senior trip to New York, Washington, and Atlantic City. Good by, seniors, and good luck!
