The Student Council was organized in 1937 in order to develop a better relationship between the students and the faculty, and to give to the stu- dents a means of expressing their feelings. It has been very successful in carrying out its original ideas and the school has profited a great deal from it. The officers are elected in the spring preceding the school year they are to serve. The representa- tives are elected from each home room they are to serve at the beginning of each semester. The officers this year have been: Ned Trimble, president, Ralph Lowry, vice presidentg Mary Moon, secretary, John Cooper, treasurer, Laura Tapp, historian, and Miss Elaine Lemaster, sponsor. This year it has sponsored Homecoming, the all- school mixers, the Christmas Charity Drive, and has sent delegates to the Columbia convention. BOARD OF EDUCATION The School Board welcomes the printing of THE SPECTATOR and believes that it bespeaks school spirit which testifies to the greatness of our public school system in the United States. The members join with me in holding high hopes for the staff, the book and the school whose year's record it is.

74 .sauloerinfenolenf .sglaealfd This school annual will bring many happy mem- ories of your high school associates and activities as you glance through its pages in the years to come. Our school this year has had to make many changes in its program to keep abreast of the gov- ernment's demand upon our youth. We have attempt- ed to give each individual training so he may as- sume the responsibility which will be his upon grad- uation. A world-wide struggle still lies ahead, and the problems of our school are becoming greaterg but I am sure you will be proud to say that your Alma Mater ranked among the highest in its patri- otic and unselfish spirit. -R. R. Brock 1 rzncziaaf pencign 95 It is my privilege to extend cordial greetings to all readers of THE SPECTATOR. It is my sincere wish that many years from now this yearbook will continue to give pleasure to those of us who remem- ber the days we spent at Liberty High School. The satisfaction of doing worth-while things for ourselves and our country in the atmosphere of a school we belong to gives each one a sentimental attachment that will not soon depart. A yearbook like THE SPECTATOR gives us a unity that will outlast other memories. In the spirit of that unity and all unity which springs from worth-while asso- ciations and endeavor, I greet you. -B.
