'ITHW 3111311i'I7AfI'I2DCIl Dmmatlc Class The Dramatrc Club of the Llberty Hlgh School was orgamzed November 27 1925 by a group of students whose arm was to further mterest m dramatlcs and was sponsored by Mrss Loulse Grlmer Mr Theodore Cochran and Mr C O Magee The first play whlch they sponsored was Step Llvely The next year Mxss Ellen Dono van and Mr Theodore Cochran were chosen as sponsors On january 27 1927 Buddxes war play was presented and on December 16 1927 Peg O My Heart ln the year 1928 and 29 there were two outstandnng plays The Whole Town s Talkrng and The Enemy The latter was by far the most outstandmg play ever presented by the Dramatrc Club Both Mlss Donovan and Mr Cochran took lmportant parts rn thrs productlon Thls year the Dramatic Club has become IHZCUVC and m IIS place a Dramatic Class has been formed whlch 15 dlrected by Mr Theodore Cochran 0n january 29 the class presented The Happy Prodigal The class meets every Thursday and IS grven practrcal lessons rn dramatic art Members ofthe class are Elxzabeth Cvxttlnger Paul Thompson Maxrne Berstle jack Mosby Luclle Adams Melvm Thompson jane S1mrall James Vanlandxngham Sue Wornall Leota ONeal Roma Reynolds Lucnlle Hall Frelds Duncan Sarah Howard Rlchard Thompson Dorothy Don aldson Paul Allen Ann Garth Mason Velma Boyer Byrl Reardon Mary Bellas Deward Sparks Page Twenty four O , ' 1 , . , . . . . - .. . Qlll Sllllllbl i9l5XGlll4fDll-is - Glee Club The Glee Clubs have greatly enjoyed therr work thls year under the dxrectnon of Mlss Kathryn Wilson The two organlzatlons have presented many successful programs for the stu dent body and the town A selected glrls sextette Jeanne Anderson Merle Rogers Else jane Byrns Mary Kelley Mary Jane Norton and Loretta Long have added many pretty melodles for the Glee Club on varxous occaslons One of the features of thls year was Hrawatha s Chlldhood a clever cantata telling of Hnawatha 1n song The Gypsy Rover a three act operetta was the bug h1t presented th1s year on Febru ver was stolen by hns nurse Meg played by Loretta Long and grew up as a gypsy ln a camp although he was really the Slr Gilbert Howe of Enghsh noblllty Marro husband of Meg was played by Iames Robert Don Carlos who made a splended robber wrth Smfo john james Elxzabeth Gxttrnger the perfect Lady Constance lost xn the woods wlth her france Lord Cra ven Harry Clevenger wandered to a gypsy camp where she met Rob and fell lh love at first sight Fxelds Duncan made a splendld Sir George Martengal searchmg for hrs daughter Lady Constance Other characters were Zara Mary Kelley the lover of Slnfo Nma and jerome play ed by Louise Farnsworth and Lloyd Grlmes The chorus and the orchestra made the entire op eretta effectlve Page Twenty fre . , , 1 D 1 . . .. . . .
