Luanne Stewart, led the band proudly and majes- tically at all of their band marching performances, This group of high steppers added color and inter- est to the band shows. The Pep Band kept up enthusiasm during rallies and athletic contests by playing many jazzy marches and popular songs. This group of musi- cians is taken from the first chairs of each section. Besides playing at sports affairs the Pep Band made several public appearances as a dance band. The entire band appeared in the Variety Show playing Lawrence Ellis bubble music. They re- corded two programs which were used on K.R.V.N. The band also did an excellent performance at the Music Contest in Grand Island. A snappy dru.n cadence moved the Lexington l-llgh Schooi Band across U16 root- bail field at all home games and one out-of-town game. The outstanding band snow or the season was the one presented on Arniistice Day. ihis show saluted the different branches of military service. Packing themselves and their instruments into three chartered buses, the group was one of LHS sixty bands taking part in the University Band Day. They displayed their usual high degree of pomp and energy as they marched in the annual parades of the Cozad Hay Days and the Gothenburg Fall Festival. The proud band initiated two shiny new bass horns. These horns were greatly needed and were certainly appreciated. Enhancing its flash and sparkle. at the front o. the band. marched the vnajorettes: Dorothy Hilton, Velma Deeter, Betty Reichert, Sally Lancaster. Carol Fagot and Janice Beyl. Drum Ma,ioi'iettf'. THREE O LLOCK IN THE MORNING - Cindy Underwood and Gordon Brodme were the highlights of the Lawrence Elk Show as they waltzed to Three O'Clock in the Morning. I ff IMI! 3:11212 12111111 GOOD-NIGHT LADIES - Dave Foster, Mary Ruth Rickertsen, Mary Lou Foreman, Kathy Zeplin and Gordon Brodine gave xi: nnishinq touch to the variety show as thy sang Good- Niqht Ladies. The Variety Show was presented in early De- cember. The show was divided into three parts as follows: The Fred Pharing Show. The Ted Tullivan Show, and the Lawrence Elk Show. The Fred Pharing portion, a take-off of the Fred Waring Show, was einen-ed by Dave Gauger. This part was done by the choir. The Ed Sullivan show furnished the Spark for the Ted Tullivan portion, Harold Stuckey played the part of Ted. The Boys Glee. Girls' Glee. Sex- tette. and the triple trio made up this show. Popular band leader. Lawrence Welk. was in the spotlight for the Lawrence Elk show. The band played some Atypical bubble numbers. ON THE ROAD TO MANDALAY - Special ieature oi the Ted Tullivan Show was Tom Sheldon, Gordon Brodine and Low- ell Bowman singing On the Road To Mandalay. I WONDER WHO'S KISSING HER NOW - Dave Foster, as lou- ture vocalist on the Lawrence Elk Show sang I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now?
