He makes friends with the 925 other students and learns to know the 38 teachers who will help him to become adjusted to his new environment. By the time he is in eighth grade his adaption is complete, and the ninth grade finds him better able to assume responsibility. As a sophomore in the Senior Department. with its enrollment number- ing 697 students and 41 faculty members, he must decide on one of the five courses offered, each with its choice of subjects. By his junior year, his spare time is filled with extra-curricular activ- ities, and his ambitions are nearer realization. Finally, his senior year Ends him a mature individual prepared to take his place among the people of our town. THEY AIM Fllli PEliFEC'I'l0 HIGHER, fellow, we want that ball! Having a green team for the 1952-53 season. the Panthers couldn't get rolling for the hrst four games. The team spirit and tight did not end despite the seemingly bad luck of losing games by two and three points. In the hrst half of the Xlountain League, the hghting Panthers Came through with only two vic- tories. However, during the second half. the team began to make a much better record, for the Panthers ended the season with eight wins. This year Jay Powell, Ned Finkbeiner, and Don Rothermel will be lost by graduation. Never- theless, the Maroon and Steel should be one of the top flight contenders for the Xlountain League Championship in 195-l . However. due to their strong desire to win and to their excellent ball handling, the team de- veloped fast as the season progressed. Lvnder the capable leadership of Coach Sicchitano and because of their exceptionally fine teamwork. the Baby Panthers proved that they were by far the best Junior Var- sity team in the llountain League by becoming the only undefeated team in the seasons competition.
