CLASS HISTORY QS? T 0 5.1922 When entering the portals of Lewistown High School as Sophomores, we were highly confident of our abilities, and we wished to impress the Juniors and Seniors. After a few days, we found ourselves humbled, and we lost our haughty attitude. Vile found ourselves in new surroundings and realized that we would need the help of advisors and upper classmen. We held our first class meeting and elected Carl Barger, President: Nancy McClain, Vice President: Phyllis Carter, Secretary, William Heckert, Treasurer. We entered various school activities such as glee club, band, orchestra, student council, Tri-Hi-Y Clubs, and sports. The outstanding social event of the year was the Sophomore class party. This was very successful, and we were well accustomed and adjusted to high school activities by the end of this year. ln 1946 we returned to school as Iuniors.. By this time we had become better acquainted with members of the faculty and the students of other classes. We immediately held a class meeting and elected our officers as follows: President, Richard Rachau: Vice President, Constance Cleck, Secretary,-Nancy Burkett, Treasurer, Iohn Bowen. In October we ordered our class rings and pins. Following the selection of the class rings, we ordered our class hats and pennants. We waited anxiously for our rings and pennants to come. Eventually we received our rings and pennants, and we were rewarded by having them for the prom. Our goal was to make our prom one of the best in the history of L. H. S. During the second semester our prom committees were named and these committees worked with such a fine spirit of enthusiasm that we had one of the best proms in the history of this high school. Our last year in Lewistown High School we determined to make the happiest in our school career. We chose as our class officers: President, Clarence Gesselmang Vice President, Pat McLaughlin: Secretary, Nancy Mc- Clain: Treasurer, Myron Miller. The Lore Staff was selected which had as its Editor, Nancy Burkett: Assistant Editor, Mary lane Eshg Business Manager, lohn Bowen: Assistant Business Manager, Lee Snook: Charles Reich, Sports Editor. Our pictures were taken and our class looked forward with great expectation to the time when we would receive them. The big event of the year was the presentation of Sunny Skies, our class play. Now the time has come to bid adieu to the class of '48. Senior Day, Baccalaureate Services, Com- mencement, Dinner Dance, and the Class Picnic will soon be pleasant mem- ories. We Wish to thank Miss Park, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Reigle for their help when it was most needed. lt was through their advice and guidance that our class was so successful. We have learned many things in mis, our Ama Mater, which we shall carry with us forever. The class of '48 made many friends and secured a world of experience which it shall never forget. We hope we will continue to live just as successful in life as we have in dear old L. H. S. Pat G f'Gess
