Our TirsT duTy in This, our new liTe, was To elecT The Tollowing leaders: PresidenT, William Hughes: Vice-PresidenT, Helen ATTivo1 Treasurer, William Brinerg SecreTary, Mary Lou HerbsTer. Our class was very acTive, parTicipaTing in The many exTra-curricular acTiviTies oTTered by The school. Many members oT The class belonged To Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, dramaTics, glee club, and all Tields oT aThleTics. The main evenT oT our Sophomore year was The class parTy. As our conTribuTion To The annual Senior Day program, The vice4presidenT gave an address. AT The close of This year we were somewhaT adapTed To our new liTe and were eagerly looking Torward To our nexT year. AT lasT our long-awaiTed Time arrived, bringing wiTh iT The realizaTion oT our hopes To be upperclassmen. Again we selecTed leaders, which were: PresidenT, William Brinerq Vice-PresidenT, Helen ATTivog Treasurer, Neil STewarT: SecreTary, Mary Lou HerbsTer. AT our TirsT class meeTing we selecTed navy blue and gold as our class colors. Also aT The same Time we voTed on our haTs and pennanTs. ln addiTion, our class was The TirsT in The hisTory oT LewisTown High School To have The privilege oT ordering our rings in our Junior year. The mosT imporTanT evenT oT This year was The Junior Prom. The idea of an early prom meT much opposiTion Trom The sTudenTs. buT aTTer we Thoroughly considered The TacTs, we decided To hold The prom in March. Much diTTiculT work was enTailed, buf iT broughT abouT a prom so successTul ThaT iT will live in our memories. This ended anoTher worTh-while year, and we knew we had climbed anoTher rung in liTe's ladder. The wheel of Time revolved and we enTered LewisTown High School Tor The lasT Time-as digniTied, sTaTely Seniors, 227 in number. Our leaders Tor This year were: President William Brinerg Vice-PresidenT, Helen ATTivo3 Treasurer, Franklin Rudy: SecreTary, Mary Lou HerbsTer. Because oT The enlisTmenT in The navy of Franklin Rudy, Mary Lou HerbsTer assumed The responsibiliTies of Treasurer, along wiTh her duTies as secreTary. AT The beginning oT The year we had our class picTures Taken. WiTh our counTry engaged in a sTruggle Tor iTs very exisTence, we deTermined To do our uTmosT To help conquer The Torces which are sTriving To uTTerly desTroy our way oT liTe. Our

Larer a boolc campaign, in which boolcs were collecled for men in rhe armed forces of our counrry, was held. Also hundreds of dollars of war sramps were sold in fhe building. This year borh our foorball and baslcerball reams had fine records. From every s'randpoin+, we seemed fo have reached 'rhe goal esrablished by rhose before us.
