Although the activi- ties and studies were very different from those which we were accustomed to, we soon adapted ourselves to Senior High School life. The following officers were elect- ed at our first class meeting: President, Wil- liam Reeder, vice president, Ioan Apgar: secretary, Betty Knudsong treasurer, Sam Gilbert. Members of our class participated in many activities during the year such as Hi-Y, Tri-Hi-Y, Dramatic Club, Glee Club, and the various fields of athletics. We had the distinction of being the first class to hold a Sophomore party, which proved to be a great success. By the end of the year we had become a well-established pillar of L. H. S. and looked forward to the continuance of our success. Our first step as Iuniors was to hold a class meeting and elect the following offi- cers: president, William Reederg vice presi- dent, Ioan Apgar, secretary, Betty Knudson, treasurer, Sam Gilbert. We also chose as our class colors, cardinal red and white. Our caps and pennants were selected and sent for. Again we set an example for other classes to follow by receiving them in record time. Before the first semester was complet- ed, the campus of L. H. S. was brightened by the many red and white caps worn by members of our class. The strength and success of our athletic teams and the various other activities was bolstered by the participation of members of our class. The outstanding feature of the year was our Iunior Prom. Since the com- bined colors of the Senior class and our class were red, white and blue, a patriotic theme for the decorations was used. The gym was converted into a large ship and everyone present was very well pleased with the nautical atmosphere created. We ended another successful year in Senior High School by electing the following offi- cers for our final and most important year: president, Sam Gilbert, vice president, loan Apgar, secretary, Betty Knudson, treasurer, lack Gracey. We entered our last year with the deter- mination to make it the happiest in our high school life. It was necessary for us, as Sen- iors, to undertake many responsibilities. The new leaders of the Student Council, Robert Myers, boy president, and Dorothy Hughes, girl president, undertook the task of presid- ing over the governing body of L. H. S. Our athletes finished up two and three years of varsity competition in the various fields, and many others e.nded their services in the out- standing organizations of the school. The Lore staff was elected with lacquelyne Gracey, editor-in-chief, Marilyn Boyer, assis- tant editor-in-chief, Richard Coleman, busi- ness manager, and Glenn Dettrey, assistant business manager. Pictures were taken and our rings and pins were bought as We moved into the finale of our high school careers. We came to our graduation activities with a feeling which was a mixture of happiness and sorrow. Our nation was at warl Realizing this, we were very conservative in the planning of our activities. After much consideration we sel- ected as our class play, A Waltz Dream. which proved to be a great success. Now Senior Day, Iunior Prom, Dinner Dance, Alumni Dance, and Commencement are gone, but they will live everlastingly in our hearts. We can be proud and thankful that we spent our three years of high school life in old L. H. S. The knowledge, friends, and experience which we have gained from this, our Alma Mater, will aid us in facing the problems of a world which has been disrupted by hate, greed, and jealousy. We hope that we can use to a good advantage the many lessons taught us in dear old L. l-l. S., so that we can make our future life as successful as that which was spent in our Alma Mater.
