,Q- 2 Bessie Allen, completing her second year on the Lobo Lair, served as Exchange Editor her junior year and as Asst. Editor her senior year. Bessie competed in the Inter- scholastic Le a gue contest, and worked on the annual staff both years. Feature Editor Gwen Mc- Murry examines the files or more stories for the Lobo Lair. She also was responsi- ble forthe layout of the fourth page in the school paper. af A A , S by , LK! Hillry Ranson, copy editor for the El Lobo and ac e sports writer on the Lobo Lair, distinguished himself his first year in journalism by winning first place in state competition for his sports story on the Breckenridge game. Reporters in general for the Lobo Lair were Herby Harding, Jerry Pick- ens, and Logan Gill. These journalists were used in every phase of the paper because of their versatile abilities in writing. 7' ' .N 1 I xx One of the most creative artistthathas ever worked on the Lobo Lair staff is Tommy Derington Art Editor of the Lobo Lair and El Lobo he used his original designs for the cover of the El Lobo Photographers for the Lobo Lair and El Lobo were Don Henderson Spencer Ellis and Austin Majers These boys played a very important role in making the paper and yearbook as interesting as it Mrs. Ruth Williams, one of the most out- standing teachers of L.H.S., took over the most hair-pulling jbb that she could undertake as a facult member Because of her atience and Y - P endurance in teaching journalism she sponsored one of the best series of Lobo Lairs in the his- tory of L.H.S. f , will Ana . Roy Martin finds he is the bashful type when aggressive Connie Jackson goes to work on him. Gail Grimes, Earline Leath, Mary Io Minor, and Betty Mont- gomery played their part as re- porters onthe Lobo Lair staff. Diane Green won a third place in state competition with a news story. Joan Durrett Bowen added another title to her name this year that of editor of the Lobo Lair as well as a married name Puttinv out 15 issues ofthe paper is no minor chore Joan also represented the Journalism department in the regional meet held in Lubbock April 23 for her second year 'L 1
