We are represented ln the Student Council by Duane Dawes, Bob Ekberg, and Robert Schroeder. We are now going to leave school and go our prospective ways in life taking with us this motto, The Ropes of the Past will Ring the Bells of the Future The Class Flower: Pink Carnation The Class Colors: Rose and White The Class Motto: With the ropes of the past we will ring the bells of the future CLASS POEM LLOYD HAMME Slx Seniors our class contains, Six personalities this class maintains Some of us of growl and smile But we will all fight through the last mile Duane is pres1dent domg his part Bob Ekberg 1n b1ology IS really smart Bob Schroeder takes the girls out in his Chevrolet While Hamme stays home pitching the hay Lloyd Gilhspie spends his day asleep Helen Ienson plans to teach to earn her keep This is all of the class of forty six So take a look at people the future may pick CLASS PRCPHECY By DUANE DAV ES I remember one night fifty years ago, when I and five other members of the Senior Class graduated from good old L I-I S On this night we were very happy that we were graduating and on the other hand we knew we would be leaving a number of good friends behind On every sixteenth day of May I always remenf For instance there is Helen Jensen the only girl of our class I will al ways remember Helen because she was always h loing one of her classmates out when he was behind in his subjects Helen alway wanted to be a school teacher and she has made good because the other day I got a letter from Bob Ekberg say mg that she was teaching the natives in Africa Speaking of Bob Ekberg, by the way who was one of the orneriest k1c 9. that I ever went to school with is a great biolog1st He said that he wasn't going +9 be a farmer because lt was too hard work and th1s is one of the times he was rea serious As you all know he has his laboratory at Colby Well anyway, the other day Iwent up to see hzm and it looks as though he and Joco Sehumaker must have agreed on Maxine for there she was by 1 9 ' 1 - : - 7 ber this incident, and each member of the class. 1 - ' f -Q1 O . , 0 While we are on the name of Bob it reminds me of Robert Schroeder who was the Vice Presfdent of our class Robert always dreaded go1ng to the Army and what do you know, but the other day I got a letter from him and the Pres1dent fs getting ready to appoint h1m Commander ln Ch1ef of the Army He also writes that ,he liked the army s beans so well that he never had to get a Wlfe ' Surely th1s isn t Robert Then next comes to my mind the little boy of our class Lloyd Gilispfe I remember Lloyd because he was always full of spunk for instance, one time I got mto an argument with him over some sweat pants I won the argument and got the pants untfl after school was out and when I went to get them they weren t there Lloyd had already gotten them But do you folks know what he is doing today? ' f .S I l y c 'mf , c - , cv.m THE JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY By Erma Jean Donn Our class omginated in 1936 with nine students Erma Jean Donn and Derald Brown are the only remaining pupils of the 9 who started in the first grade In the eighth grade we started with ten students but lost one before the year was over We had a nice graduation with seven graduating Upon entering high school it seemed quite funny, but we soon overcame that 1dea V e had an imtiatlon party, which was enjoyed by all The Freshman class started out with six students Our teachers were Mr Charles Williams Miss Ruth Emerson, and Mrs Maxine Bernard Our Sophomore year started with five pupils, Florene Bixmen and Erma Jean Donn took part in the Junior Play Our teachers were Mr l ee Hull Mrs Thelma Hull and Mrs Modena Buoy Our Junior Class was the smallest so far We had only three students Our teachers are Mr Lee Hull, Mrs Thelma Hull and Mr Orley JA llcox We had Mrs Cllfne Curtiss for about three months tlus year She will filling the vacancy until Mr Wilcox came We rece1ved our class rings about February 15 Erma Jean Donn is the Junior Class President We have given a Junior Play this year played basketball for three years Derald Brown played this year The girls ha taken active part in the Pep Club this year Erma Jean was one ofthe cheerleadez The members of the Junior Class have enjoyed every year in school We hope when we get out of High School we will have as much fun as we have had in the past years of school We are looking forward to being Seniors next year FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY BY Merna Alleman and Darlene Touslee ll e the Freshman Class of '46 started our first year of high school with eight students We are John Donn, Rolland Rush, Wanda Eberle, Darlene Tous lee Merna Alleman, Mary Siruta, Minnie Hill and John Jacobs During the first semester we lost one of our classmates Minnie Hill Our imtiation, given by our upperclassmen was enjoyed by everyone and made us feel as though we really belonged in Levant High School All of us have gone out for volleyball and basketball Darlene was elected co captain of the basketball team Mary and Wanda l ou were also on the regular squad John Donn was usually m the starting line up on the boys team V anda Lou Darlene, and Merna participated in the Junior Play ' A Pair of Country Kids We are looking forward to our next three years 1n high school, and we hope to enjoy them as much as we have our Freshman year . 9 , V o 0 ' J ' , . : . , - 0 : O -' , , , s 5 ' I ' 0 O , I 7 I I . given an imtiation party by the upperclassmen and the high school teachers Tuesday, September 18 in the old school house The evenmg was started w1th a weiner roast out on the ball diamond Ice cream and cookies were served in the school house after the Weiner roast The freshmen were then blindfolded and taken for a car ride to make them think they were go ing for a ride in the country But they were brought back to the old school house and were kept in a dark room until time for initiation One at a time each fresh man, still blindfolded after he had taken off his shoes walked over an old car spring Then he was taken for an airplane ride, on a board and pushed off He was only about two to four inches off the ground when they were told to jump From there he was taken to another room where a board full of nails was shown to h1m and he was made to jump supposedly on the board, but it hadbeen removed He was then taken down into the basement where he had to walk on boards that someone was rocking Then he had to walk across some screen which was hooked up to an electric charger There was also a wild man ' there to scare him The Freshmen wore the same costumes all day that they wore to the inittatton party ln the evening Darlene Touslee was dressed as a gypsy Merna Allemen as an old maid, Mary Siruta as a baby Wanda Eberle as a hill billy Jacobs as a twin to Mary Struta and Rolland Rush as a Hawaiian girl After the initiation everyone went to the show, and as the freshmen were such good sports they were allowed to change to their usual clothes JUNIOR CLASS PRESENTS PLAY The junior Class presented the play ' A Pair of Country Kids ' Tuesday night, at 8 30 in the Levant Hxgh School auditorium to a good sized audience Florene Bixenman and Lloyd Gilllspie, the pair od country kids did a fine job of acting and seemed to fit their parts very well Merna Alleman portrayed an old lady with connections l ois Jean Ekberg and Darlene Touslee ought to have no trouble getting a man now smce they did such a good job of flirting ln the play Duane Dawes seems to be the type to play an old man very easily without much trouble Lloyd Hamme and Lyle Gillisple were good as city sllckers Wanda Lou Eberle as April Starr and Dearld Brown as Phil West were adequate The Junior Class was very happy about the financial results as they cleared S21 '72 over all taxes and began w1th 21 pupils enrolled Freshman Initiated The students have a representative' government for the first time when they elected representatives to the student council The seniors decided to wear gray gowns They also chose the class colors rose and white and the class flower pink carnation The Journalism class publashed the first issue of the school paper, The Blue and YR hite Star The T1gerettes elected new cheerleaders They are Jean Ekberg and Erma Jean Donn and an alternate cheerleader, Nerna Alleman They also elected the followmg officers President Jean Ekberg Sec retary, Darlene Touslee and Treasurer, Mary Schroeder Darrell Touslee our former classmate and friend passed away at the Goodland Hospital as a result of mguries he received in a car acc1dent October 21 The Junior class presented the play, ' A Pair of Country Kids' as the High School Aud1tor1um N1ght School was held Monday mght the f1rst day of National Educa tion V eek A Thanksgivmg chapel was held today Star Staff decided to edxt school annual this year The name of it is The T1ger The h1gh school and grades presented a Christmas program Friday, tn the H1gh School Auditorium The high school presented a pageant 'In Toyland Boys w1n Consolation Tournament at Rexford Girls beat Brewster Boys beat Wmona A permanent staff was elected for the Blue and White Star Bob Ekberg heads the staff as editor wlth two assistant Helen Jensen and Duane Dawes Duane Dawes was elected business manager, Lloyd Hamme crrculation manager and Robert Schroeder publication rrarager The Juniors received their class rings The rings are of yellow gold with a black enamel crest showing ' L' mounted On the sides there is a 4 and a 7 to mdicate the graduation year The Sen1ors recelved their proofs of their graduatlon pictures At last, the school received the Sound Projector for which they razsed funds at last year s carnival First and second team Tigers beat Monuments first and second team ln basketball The Tigerettes gave the Tlgers and coaches abuffet supper Basketball season ended Iumors and Seniors sponsored carnival Boys began Track Entered League, one act play contest at Menlo Entered Track
